Can a vape “Go bad”. I assumed you had to steep everything (from 3 days to 3+ weeks) but some people say “Shake and Vape” which ive read to mean just mix it and go! So some of the more ‘fruity’ based recipes (or is it certain flavours/ingredients) seem to reduce shelf time – as some people mention that they go bad after X weeks. Can anyone clarify/expand?

Ive gone whole hog and placed an order for 30 TFAs and 20ish Capella’s now, so no more discount warehouse style flavours! However, ive seen a lot of recipes (which im going to follow) include nicotine. X%. This makes up the base… If im not including Nic, what do I increase? VG? PG? Flavour ratio?

Is there a term for easy recipes? I.e. if I wanted some single flavour recipes – or perhaps a couple of flavours (some of the recipes look *mad*!) then is a term for that to make them easier to find for new starters to try a few brews?

Is there a list of substitutes at all anywhere? I saw a few recipes have “Mad Fruit” as a flavour, but Im struggling to find it in the UK for a sensible price. Is there a database/glossary of “MadFruit… Can also use XYZ”?

And, I believe I already garnished the answer to this one – but Bavarian Crème TFA would be a complete different flavour to Bavarian Crème CAP… But is this more common or is it more rare? I.e. do they usual go along the same lines – but then theres only certain ones that are completely different?

Penultimate’ly, I see a few flavours by the same place but have minor tweaks, i.e. Cotton Candy and then they do a Cotton Candy Circus. Or Graham Cracker and Graham Cracker Clear. For those not wanting to buy bottles and bottles for the sake of a couple of drops able to sub these – or are recipes incredibly meticulous

And finally, do any recipes have a desired ‘cooking’ temperature? I vape at 60W (and on a side note, my tank gets really hot!?) but my brother is at 300 I think – and my mates have the little piddly stick things and vape at 20/30.

Do these effect the taste of certain recipes?

Any juice can "go bad," but in my experience it doesn't happen often unless I've used inferior products in the mix (I've found that Flavor West products "expire" in a mix before say, FlavourArt), but hasn't happened often. I had more vendor juices go bad in the past than any of my own, and even then I wouldn't say mine went bad, they just changed flavor. Certainly didn't make them unvapable.

I use PG based nic mostly, so if I'm leaving out the nicotine, I up the PG. Same with VG base. Others may do this differently.

Is there a term for easy recipes? I.e. if I wanted some single flavour recipes – or perhaps a couple of flavours (some of the recipes look *mad*!) then is a term for that to make them easier to find for new starters to try a few brews?
"Single flavor recipes" is the only term for easy ones that I'm familiar with, but I'm sure someone else will chime in if there are different terms.

Is there a list of substitutes at all anywhere? I saw a few recipes have “Mad Fruit” as a flavour, but Im struggling to find it in the UK for a sensible price. Is there a database/glossary of “MadFruit… Can also use XYZ”?
To my knowledge, no. Normally a recipe creator has listed certain flavors by certain vendors for a reason and that's because the recipe won't be the same with substitutions. If you absolutely cannot come across something, substitutions are up to you, but know that the results will likely be different than the creator intended. (*This isn't necessarily a bad thing...lol!)

Having some issues "quoting" with my browser, but though there are differences in flavors by vendor, some are not all that significant. One vendor's Bavarian might be a tad sweeter or just need more steep time. One might taste heavier or lighter. Sometimes it's just a matter of taste on your part and won't drastically change a recipe.
To my taste buds, cotton candy is cotton candy and always tastes like straight sweetener to me. Others may feel differently. But the main reason for any "clear" flavorings as opposed to their counterparts is the coloring. Most don't use any colored flavorings because they may be harmful to our lungs.

And as far as vaping temperature/wattage, yes, it can definitely change the flavor of some juices. Chocolates, for example, tend to taste "scorched" at higher temps. I have some mixes that take on an entirely different taste at varying wattages, and some that I thoroughly enjoyed at 38w two years ago that are absolutely horrid at a current 82w.

Well, as far as a vape juice going bad after a certain amount of time, I've never really had it happen to me. I have had some juices (Fruity ones) had some flavor fade over time. The flavors that have faded on me are usually ones with lemon Sicily and I usually won't mix a bottle of lemon based juice larger than 50ml for that reason.
Most, but not all flavors by the same name from different companies can be substituted, but you might have to alter the percentages used as concentration levels differ from brand to brand, for example, Flavor West and Capella flavorings aren't as concentrated as Flavor Art are.
Going back to your first question, if you're mixing zero nic juice, you would just use a juice calculator to mix to your desired ratio by inputting a zero for the nic and it will take care of the rest.

There are a scant few Capellas that are just as strong as FA. Caps lemon sicily and blackberry are virtually the same, I have swapped them out before. But you're right, I've yet to run across anyone's lemon that didn't fade in little time. (**And thanks to you, I MUST go make some of HIC's lemon meringue pie....darn you, Mark.... :D )

Hey, my pleasure, Teresa. :);) I keep a bottle on HIC's LMP around at all times, simply wonderful stuff, it is!

I never mix more than 30ml of this at a time because of the lemon fade. I made a big 200ml right after the first time I tried and loved it a couple of years ago, but after the first 50ml or so I found myself adding lemon every couple of days.
** Just as a side note - this is one that turns very dark with time. I left around 15-20ml of that big batch on my desk and forgot about it. When it was rediscovered a few weeks later, it was REALLY dark brown but totally vapeable. Just needed more lemon...lol!

Noticed a few people said that most companies like putting in a few freebies or a little something-something for orders.

All my orders have arrived, the biggest of which was £120 order from DarkStar and I get absolutely bagel on top.

Obviously I'm not aggrieved, as the order is accurate and was the best market rate at the time... But I feel like everyone's getting the cherries on top here but me :(

Ps Still impossible to find Mad Fruit without having to order 150ml of it to justify postage!

I buy my flavors from Nicotene River and Bull City Flavors and have never received a freebie from either. I did however get great flavors -full strength- and a good selection to choose from so I'm happy.

Yeah, it's nicely packaged and had the 35% discount on top, so can't *really* grumble.

I just wanted a free bottle of something to mix up out of curiosity :)

Maybe better in chicken soup although I don't consider chicken a "fun flavor".
Probably be OK for vegetarians too as long as it doesn't include chunks of meat:rolleyes:
