Moving Away From Box Mech Mods

I started with mech mods about a year ago, and shortly after went into box mech mods. Really enjoyed them, and the ones I really liked were the wooden mech boxes. But the time has come I believe to move back into tube mechs, mostly my FuHattan mods, I've had 2 mech boxes quit working on me, and the cause was they were made with an adjustable 510 pin, & they just finally gave out, & I'm not anywhere near skilled enough to fix them, and the local vape shops around here just want to sell me a regulated box mod, and just do not want to try to replace my adjustable 510 pin with a floating 510 pin.

Oh well, I'm not complaining about the boxes in general, I just wish people were willing to fix a small problem like a 510 pin, instead of trying to push me into a product I just don't really wish to get at this particular time. I have asked on here about getting my favorite one fixed, but was just told to buy the part and do it myself, AFTER I explained I was ot confident enough to do that. It's ok though, I have my copper carbon fiber wrapped mod, & I might buy a straight copper one. Yhey have always been pretty dependable. so might as well stay with what works....tube mech mods, & Vulcan RDA's......

Can't really go wrong with a solid tube mech and rda.

We helped you determine that your box was repairable, what part would be needed and where to get it. Figured that would at least get you closer to your goal of getting it back in action. Unless you happen to live in eastern North Carolina and want to come over to my house, helping with or finding someone to help with the repair isn't something I can do.

I agree with the help determining it was repairable. I did acquire the part, just not the repairman...lol..And I wish I was in eastern N.C., I'm originally from Monroe, N.C., just south of Charlotte. Made me a little homesick now....lol. And I am grateful for the help in finding out it is repairable, just wish I had more knowledge of fixin' these things. Who knows, someone might come along in the future that can take care of it here locally.

I was forced to tear into a mod once due to a wrecked, soft brass connector. I've actually put fatdaddyvapes 510 connectors on an MVP 2 and a hana clone. Hopefully you'll find some local help with yours. At least you've got nice tubes to put back in rotation. I've become a big fan of the SMPL. Seems to be the perfect tube mech for me.

Interesting. I have had three mech mods. I still own two FuHattens and a SMPL which you cannot go wrong with. I recently (yesterday) traded my authentic akuma (the janky firing button one) for an authentic admantium x (this will be my second phillipino box mod). I love it. I also have learned how to do most repairs. This is important no matter what unregulated mod you use.

I have found two rules I go by. The first is that authentics will last longer and outperform clones. The second is that any mod made in the phillipines seems to be top quality. Both the adamantium and the akuma are not new. My akuma was 109 and my adamantium is 108. So these have been around. They are still both working fine. My RDAs are also all authentic.

Now I watch all the videos comparing authentics to clones too. But these videos do not show what happens after months of use! Bear this in mind. I'm not an expert by any means but I have been vaping awhile (when the new regulated mods and great sub ohms did not exist) and had to learn from experience and other vapers. I p[ick my batteries the same way. I make sure I get authentics from reputable B+Ms. For my mech and box mods I really like the Imren batteries - though Samsung 25R are quite good too. You can keep the sony VCTs and Efeets. They are not bad but they do not hit like an Imren on an unregulated mod.
