Me? I think lines get crossed when anyone celebrates the loss of another's job or hardship, another's physical or mental difference and, most definitely, another's race, religion, beliefs.



And I agree with that ^^^^. We'd be a much smaller forum, with way fewer members if we were anything at all like that place.

Also add that 99.9% of the time his diatribe is completely unprovoked.

I watched a vendor threaten a fellow member with a ban because he asked questions and stated facts the vendor didn't like. He threatened to ban him from his sub forum here.

And this is the first case that I know of, that the members are trying to get another member banned. It's stupid. It can be simply solved in one of two ways:
1 Go to your profile and ignore the member. This should fix ANY issue like this that ever pops up. You can't see what you ignore.

2 Just ignore the poster's post. Don't read it, don't respond. You'll feel better in 30 seconds.

You're definitely right about me not reading every thread, but you've missed a few important posts also. It's been said in this thread that many members can't use the ignore feature at all. It doesn't work with Taptalk.

I haven't heard about the vendor who banned a member from posting on his sub forum... but I can see a number of situations where that could be warranted. Most members know that Vaping Underground lets most insults slide. Some people eagerly exploit this site's leniency and turn their complaints into harassment. I've seen a metric shit ton of complaints about vendors here and haven't come across a single ban threat because of it. If somebody was threatened with a vendor sub forum ban they may have deserved it and may not have. I LOVE freedom of speech, but we have jailed real people for harassment. In the real world people are sometimes banned from going into stores where they threatened people. We have restraining orders for a reason.

People in the real world are not welcome to do or say anything they want to anyone they want wherever they want. Maybe that sucks, but part of being an adult is dealing with the fucked up mess you create. It isn't totalitarianism to call the police on someone who is going on a screaming threatening rampage in a restaurant because his burger has tomatoes, and it isn't totalitarian to consider banning someone who threatens, insults and harasses people continuously in this forum. Maybe, just maybe, a ban is the responsible thing to do. I don't know. That's not my call.

And you missed the part you quoted in my post, that you can just over look and IGNORE posts from people you don't like.
Banning someone won't solve shit.
Silencing people that say things you don't like, only ruins the forum.
If we are going to live life thinking we have a "right" to be NOT offended, then maybe people should rethink things. There is NEVER a right to be free from being offended by other people.

You are free to move away from a discussion that offends you. You are free not to visit someplace you find that offends you. That was 2 months ago now, after the bashing and the shut last night, all lines of decency were crossed by him, and to say that giving someone the pink slip after the laundry list of shit he has pulled here would be turning us into ecf Is a huge stretch!
This is a community and on some level I think someone should show at least a morcel of usefulness and respect to its other members.

I can honestly say I don't pay attention to steve. I'm not obsessed with him or what he does. I couldn't give a lesser fuck. I ignore his postings because I find him personally, a useless poster. One of the few, I might add.
Though his presence here makes no matter to me. I still think banning him is just as stupid as ECF treats their own people.

Silencing people that say things you don't like, only ruins the forum.
If we are going to live life thinking we have a "right" to be NOT offended, then maybe people should rethink things. There is NEVER a right to be free from being offended by other people.

Because THAT is exactly what this dumb ass discussion IS at it's core. Some think it is the right of everyone to NEVER be offended. You're absolutely wrong. You are free to move away from a discussion that offends you. You are free not to visit someplace you find that offends you. You are NOT free to attempt to force others to say and do, what you tell them too. You have NO right to impose your will on others.

Steve crossed lines of decency. So did others who took butt hurt offense to what he said. So if you ban him, you morally should be under the same obligation to ban everyone else who crossed that same line attacking him.

But this thread isn't calling for that. They think only steve should be punished, even though others have said things just as offensive and demeaning.

Wow. Where are you getting this stuff? Nobody here is asking the mods to ban everybody who offends us. Petty much everybody here has offended people on this forum at some point. There is a world of difference between occasionally being offensive and going on repeated personal rampages again and again. Denigrating other users wives and families isn't the same as bashing the latest iStick. Fights break out all over the forums. It isn't generally a problem, just like it usually isn't a problem when friends and families have arguments. It's a part of life. That can change when people cross certain lines. In real life people call the police when someone crosses that line, on forums those situations are handled by mods.

I'm also not a fan of the way people are taking such a hard dump on this guy, however much it's deserved, but I absolutely understand where they're coming from. Hell, if I had been dumped on the way steve came at some members here I might have started this thread myself. This isn't about feeling offended. It's about moving a truly out of control, long time repeat offender off of this forum. We're not asking the FBI to ban him from the internet or investigate him.

It's not about rights or hating anybody. Vets don't put dogs who attack people down because they hate animals or because they don't respect animal right. Destructive behavior sometimes has consequences. Should there be leniency? Hell yes, and lots of it. But you can't continuously abuse it to the detriment of person after person for the sake of some idealistic bullshit. Lots of people are offensive, So what. Thing is, the mods are here to discern if a line has been crossed between simply being offensive (allowed) or repeatedly going on personal tirades (debatable).

There are codes of conduct in the real world and on most forums. We're trying to find out of members are completely free to attack anybody they want in any way they want as often as they want.. or not. Personally, I'm hoping there's a line somewhere.

Here is my stance on the whole thing. Ban him or not I don't care. Will I continue to step in where Steve over steps to take the heat for members that might leave if his bullying continues YES. And yes I did have a moment of aggression last night but it subsided and just went about my normal way of dealing with Steve and put up a meme....lol with that being said if I see steve trolling members I will add my 2 cents does that make me just as bad probably.

I could not disagree more. This isn't a push to another ecf. But to each is own. The rules here are soft and lets face it most of us here have been axed from ecf...lol
