NBA Playgrounds appeared for free on the PlayStation Network Store earlier today, but what appeared on the PSN was an accidentally released beta version of the upcoming 2-on-2 basketball game.
In a statement released to IGN, Saber Interactive, the developer of the officially licensed and recently announced NBA Playgrounds, confirmed the free version of the game briefly available on the PS4 "existed solely for the purposes of testing online play and is not fully representative of the final product."
IGN was able to download the game and play in an online match, but local modes were unavailable to play. The full Saber Interactive statement reads:
