Need advice on (Kanthal?) Pre coils- Smok RBA???

Hello guys, 1st post here,

Im about to purchase the Smok RBA and would like to buy some packs of wire that are already coiled as practice before I go out my way to buy the tools i need to coil the wire myself etc Ive gone though loads of Q2's, X4's & T8's so this is next on the list.

I've seen lots of "Pack of 50" stuff on ebay and amazon but Im really confused which ones would be suitable.

This forum was extremely helpful when I started vaping and guided me for months so any help here would be really appreciated!

I already have the Japanese cotton. Alien 220w, baby and big baby beast tanks

KingPin!

In my defence, I was left unsupervised ^^

I do know some people have tried the demon killer 8 in 1 coil wheels here. I can't say whether they are good or not as I've always made my own but they should give you a taste at least of different builds

Also there are a few coil builders on this site who offer their services (in the unlisted vendors section) they might be able to help you but you'll need to hit thier threads in that section to discuss anything with them or through PM.

As a minimum I'd say give some fused claptons a go to give you a taste of what's the come :) if you want to spend a bit more some aliens, or staples will be great as well

When you do decide to give building a go drop into the coil building section loads of helpful info and members there. @gbalkam had a thread which was really helpful with some videos for budding builders somewhere hopefully he'll drop in and link it for you :)

Great idea to take it slow and try some different materials & configurations before going whole hog. You can certainly make a decent coil on the shaft of a small screwdriver before shelling out the big bucks! Coils don't have to be instagram-ready to vape well.
Make sure the post holes are large enough on the deck you are buying if you want to experiment with designer wire or coils. The RBAs I've tried usually only accommodate round wire or finer gauge Clapton wire, but I am unfamiliar with the one you're looking at.
Generally, Kanthal will give you a higher resistance than NiChrome or Stainless steel, and thicker (lower gauge number) wire and fewer wraps will lower resistance. I started with 26gg Kanthal and it's still a reliable wire. I like using spaced coils too, for better flavor and also they don't get hot spots like tight coils. If you use SS, you should test fire on wattage mode at a low setting. SS can be temperamental, ohm readings will vary & usually increase slightly after test firing in my experience.
AND don't feel pressure to vape Dual Framed Alien Staple Twisted whatever at 167 watts!
Happy building!

Aye I was one of them. Wanted to get into building so much, since prebuild are so expensive when it comes to regular coils/tanks.
Sure I'm no expert and maybe I can't appreciate fancy coils just yet, but I had a horrible time with the demon killer coil wheels. I got the 8in1 and 6in1 a while back, and while the 8in1 is nicely labeled the 6in1 ain't. If you're new to building, you have no idea what 28*2 + 38ga/SS316L for example means. Thanks to Anthony, I finally know what it is lol. But still the ramp up time of these is horrible in my opinion. Then again I don't vape at 150 watts either, which most of them are intended to be used as. High watt I mean in general, not so much 150 w specifically.

I was about to give up with building myself, specially since my husband has no trust in me, and won't let me experience with builds. We not talking mech mods here, but he still thinks that I blow myself up with a dual or even just single coil build on a regulated mod. Anyways as he was out of town I got some SS wire and spend whole weekend trying. I'm not perfect and far away from being an expert in that department, but being able to just modify simple coils myself I'm proud off.

Reason I'm writing that, when going the demon killer route, you might find yourself quitting to build anything and end up more frustrated.
