Need advice on mods/rda/tanks

Been a long time since I’ve been here.
I was a DIY kind of vaper in the past (usually tube mechs with RDA’s and made my own coils, juice, etc) but I’ve gotten lazy and been using disposables for a while now, but my state (in its infinite wisdom) has made disposables illegal to buy/sell after August I think and will be needing to switch over to something else.
Not looking for mechs because I’m horrible about having them leak, so, I’m looking at getting a box mod and tank setup. I was thinking of picking up one of the aromamizers from steam crave in case I get the urge to build some coils, but when it comes to tank systems and electric mods (instead of mechs) I am a bit ignorant and asking you pros.
What would be a good tank setup to use that the coils won’t eat me alive from being overpriced and will have the staying power that I don’t have to worry about finding coils for it because they stop making them or something and what is a decent mod to put it on that won’t cost me an arm and a leg. I was a very low-ohm vaper, so, just looking for advice on a good mod and tank system so that when this law goes into effect I’ll already be setup for the transition. Thanks for any info you guys can pass on to me!

Hey Screwball
Kind of quiet around here nowadays.
Market has certainly shifted towards disposable and pods. Hobbyist vapor is niche now.
I still sqounk an RDA for 80% of my vape but have kind of kept up with the changes a bit. The other 20% is MTL and I've went to Vaporesso XROS pods only after building for years. Best MTL flavor ever for me.
DTL is getting closer but still not RDA level.

Take a look at Vaporesso. They have taken the lead the last few years IMO. Very popular, widely available online, in stores, and will be for quite sometime.

The GTX .2 coil is excellent at 55 watts. Tanks and pods. Also cross compatible with Voopoo PNP coils, also popular.
I use these as a grab and go in a Luxe XR max 5ml pod. Best drop in coil flavor I've had, coil life is decent at 40-60 ml juice dependent. Again, not RDA level but surprisingly good.

If you looking to run higher 60-9O watts, the GTi series coils in traditional box mods and tanks. No experience here.

As usual direct from China is still cheaper but you have to order ahead. Sourcemore is the best of what's left. They recently raised shipping a bit but cover any tariffs. Still have best deals, make sure your signed in or create and account for lowest price.
Good luck.

Thanks for the assistance! I took a look around Vaporesso and the GEN Max (iTankT) has caught my eye. Curious if anyone has (or had) this setup that can give some pros/cons or if it’s crap or a good setup.
The bundle I’m looking at is the GEN Max (iTankT) in Storm Blue with the GTi 0.4 Mesh coils and the iTank 2 5ml Glass Tube with O-Rings.

Also forgot to ask about batteries…I used Moli’s in the past…are they still a pretty good go to battery or have improved batts cropped up?

Not familiar with that set up, but moli's are still easily had about anywhere, and still fantastic cells, imo

I agree... mostly because I like their coils. I used to like Innokin but some of their coils have had issues.
Specifically, the 0.3 ohm coils... many bad ones while the Vaporesso 0.3 work great (have not had a bad one yet) For RDL I use a full blown cloud chaser setup (Vaporsso Revenger X with NGR tank) but even though I use a 0.15 ohm coil, that is rated 50 watts and above, I only run it at 45 watts. This isn't directly related to your post, but just speaking on the Vaporesso coils, these dual mesh coils are so good! I also love the 0.6 ohm coils for loose MTL

Since I don't have any experience with anything GTi coil based I was curious about the iTank 2 vs iTank T. Found this video:

It's hard for me to steer you towards a GTX based device since I can't compare both, but if your looking for that 50-60 range......
Vaporesso has just came out with a dual vertical stack mesh GTX that launches with the Luxe XR Max 2. Just now hitting the streets. The GTi and GTX currently, are single mesh structure.

Anything running a GTX has been and is extremely popular.
Quite a few people that went to boro mods run the GTX in a Vaperz Cloud Shift boro tank. Guess they got tired of fiddling with damn bridges and figured out the GTX is just as good in a boro.. 😂
I'll second Dub on the Molly's for sure, they separated from the pack as well.

Poked around their site a bit. Looks like pretty much all the tanks are GTi and pods are GTX now. They used to have a few more GTX tanks, maybe with the Target series...
I think you made a really good choice. Reviewers kind of suck more now than they used to, and most sucked anyway. YouTube has demonetized all their channels so they are more like influencers now, lol. Grimm Green seems to be one of the better sources for China stuff because he actually uses it. Of course Todd is still good but he always trended higher end so it's weird watching him do a pod review to keep the lights on, lol.

Thanks folks…I think I’ve settled on the setup I posted about before. I got a birthday coming up on the 20th, so I’m gonna see if I can get someone to buy the setup and 4 of the Moli batts for me.
Once I’ve tried it out for a bit I’ll probably post a review in case anyone else comes across these devices and is wondering if they are any good.
Great to see the vaping community (here at least) is still more than willing to help out and answer questions and give good advice! I can’t thank y’all enough!

Ok, Wow…turns out this setup is pretty damn good. I was expecting something good but wasn’t ready to be surprised with how well it works.
Before I got lazy and went to disposables I was a super sub-ohm vaper using pretty much only tube mechs with big rda’s that I’d slap 2 alien coils in…so how the hell am I getting the same enjoyment out of an electric box and tank that has a .25 ohm factory coil set at 35w?
Back when I was in the niche area of making coils and juice you had to make a sacrifice between vapor production and flavor (cloud chasers vs flavor chasers) but that’s not the case with this GEN Max (iTankT)…I’m getting great flavor while still being a human chimney.
Is it these mesh coils that I’ve never used before? Have things just gotten better for this type of setup? I have no clue, but it’s been a while since I’ve used a DTL product and was expecting to be a little let down due to being used to mechs, but this thing has absolutely 0 ramp up time and you can chain vape on it (to an extent) without getting a dry hit.
The 6ml tank lasts me pretty much all day and I have a bad habit of falling asleep before setting my mod off to the side and expected a big spot where juice had leaked this morning, but this thing has no leaking issues whatsoever.
Battery life is tremendous (to be expected considering it’s only set to 35w) and the air flow setup can go from too much to not enough allowing you to find the perfect level of resistance you like when taking a long draw.
So, no ramp up time, great power at low wattage, great flavor and vapor production equally, very wide range of air flow, no leaking issues and you don’t have to carry a juice bottle or extra batteries with you.
The lock button is great for being able to put in your pocket and not worrying about misfires, as well.
It feels great in the hand with minimal weight, not to mention I can blow smoke rings again, lol.
So, all-in-all (with my zero amount of cred) I would highly recommend this product as it checks off on about every box there is to check.
Thank you again for everyone that helped lead me to this device…I’m now a convert from mechs and look forward to many awesome vaping sessions with this device!

Edit: There is one small issue with the protruding Fire button that also doubles as increasing/decreasing wattage…you can’t lock the wattage in, so, if you accidentally rotate that button for any reason you have to roll it back to your preferred wattage.
