You now have the ability to change the style that best matches your style.

You can now pick Default Mode (what you see all the time) and Vaping Underground Dark.

The dark mode seem to be something many people were asking for. So here ya go!

Some may have access to one called "Xenforo" its just the boilerplate that comes with the forum, but you can use that as well.

Enjoy....

I really like the dark mode. Think I'll like it even better on smaller devices (I'm on a laptop now).

I'm blind in one eye and dark mode makes it easier to read. Anyone else have vision problems try dark mode. You won't regret it!!

Click on your member name in the top right corner of your screen, then on next screen click Preferences. The choices are in the drop-down box next to where it says "Style." You'll see it right there. Just choose "Vaping Underground Dark"

I'm near deaf in one ear, have tinnitus, and diabetes. But also I am HSP, and, that's how this new Dark Mode right now is still much too bright for me for reading, i.e., white text is much too bright against this very dark background so I am forced to stick to using this popular addon called Dark Reader, to make text and brightly colored badges look like how it looks in the screenshot that I posted earlier. Only when I look at pictures is when I can stand max brightness because, then, I'm not reading, but the background in this new Dark Mode theme is still much too dark for looking at pictures. @5150sick

Are you on a tablet by chance? Have you tried a blue light filter?

If his photophobia is like mine, blue light glasses don’t help.

Our condo is North facing as to not get direct light into the house... imagine hunting down a home in California to that specification lol...blinds are generally closed.

When we go out and about to the beaches and stuff, I can hang about 2 hours max before I need the wife drive due to head aches.

Our Accord I had tinted with 5%, which it completely against the law here... but I’m ok having to pay $264 ticket for tint, which we have a few times already.

My Sunglasses are prescription, and rather dark, costs a ton more to get them really dark instead of just transition dark which really isn’t at all dark.

Now blue blocking coating does help, just not a ton for those with severe light sensitivity.

But yeah, sucks.

I'm on a laptop hooked up via HDMI cable to an Emotiva processor (Emotiva = America's #1 greatest audio company from Franklin, Tennesee─just outside of Nashville) to a 55″ TV that's standing in front of my bed... using a Logitech K800 wireless keyboard that I put on top of my legs, and a G402 corded optical mouse that I put right next to me on the mattress, no mouse mat needed. :D

you headaches could be due to the overall size and refresh rate of the TV i know i used to use a TV but when i went to as monitor with 120 or better refresh rate the headaches stopped. TV and pc graphic never got along then again this was over 10 years ago.

I don't have any headaches, it's just that the full-bright white text is in such a shrill contrast with the very dark background that reading it feels almost like someone is pointing a flashlight straight into my eyes. Me being HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) worsens the distractiveness... about 15 to 20% of the population are HSP so it isn't a disorder. It is what the Polish psychiatrist/pshychologist Dr. Kazimierz DÄ…browski described as "The 5 Overexcitabilities" See:

Mmm, Dark mode I just couldn't get along with for some reason. Good its an option though for some after reading why they like it.

This is only an expression of personal preference. I don't expect anything to change based upon my personal preferences only.

I like the dark theme overall, but the deal killer for me is the lack of contrast in the quotes. I find myself reading out of the quotes and into the post without realizing it because it's not obvious enough for me where the former ends and the latter begins. It's not that there's NO contrast, but just not enough.

In the default theme the left border being clearly delineated by a contrasting line and the greyish background in the quote make it obvious.

I'm very much the same way. Too much light and my head feels like it could pop. My house gets compared to a dungeon quite often.

I am super happy to see the addition of dark mode. Those white backgrounds makes it hard for me to read for more than a few minutes before the headaches start.

All the brightly colored pictures and badges overwhelmed the screen in dark mode, and I have the brightness on my screen turned way down to reduce the chances of more migraines. The light gray screen is less harsh on my eyes.

I was already using dark mode for VU on my phone (phone settings) but now I can use it on the laptop too! Awesome! I can hardly stand to look at the screen without dark mode. Not only does it make all the words bury, but the white background hurts my eyes and gives me migraines! DARK MODE RULES!

DARK MODE RULES!

I was also having problems with the brightness.
I look at the screen a lot.
I'm on here a lot.
The white background was hurting my eyes, giving me bad headaches, and it was even messing my sleep up.
I had the brightness turned down really low but that didn't help very much.
Also, I had to keep toggling it on brighter in the daytime then darker at nighttime.

VU dark mode has helped solve the problems.:)
Also, Win10 has the night light option now which is great for night time.

The dark theme is not a solution for me. It still hurts my eyes because, when trying to read text, the BRIGHT WHITE font still hits my eyes like a fucking military search light so, instead, here's what DOES work:
Code:

Just copy the code from the box above, add it to the top of the code that already is present in Dark Reader addon's Dev tools window by pasting it there. Next, hit on Apply. Done... no more need to wear goggles like Vin Diesel was wearing in the movie Pitch Black.
