When JJ Abrams sat down to being working with his team on the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie, the first question he posed for his team was "what do we want to feel?"
According to Wired, the team worked on a list of the things they wanted the new Star Wars films to express, including a sense of beginning, urgency, but mixed with humor. According to Empire and Jedi writer Lawrence Kasdan, Abrams wanted to model the new Star Wars on the original trilogy.
"The feeling we wanted was from the first trilogy," Kasdan said. The creative team wanted to match the "fun and delight," and Kasdan said it "moves like a son of a bitch, and you don’t question too much."
