A new Supergirl trailer teasing what’s in store for season 2 has been released, and it features a big nod to the Crisis on Infinite Earths comic book storyline.
At around the 0:50 mark, there’s a shot of Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) holding a lifeless Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in his arms, which looks like it was directly taken from the Crisis cover art.
Crisis on Infinite Earths first released in the mid-80s, and was a major crossover event in DC Comics where both Barry Allen/The Flash and Supergirl die. The CW’s other superhero series, The Flash, has been teasing and using the Crisis event as an inevitable part of Barry Allen’s future.
