New to Temp Control

Yea kind of awkward I had temp control devices for a while but always been a kanthal junkie however two days ago I go me a spool of SS fused Clapton 316L so I went and build my first SS dual claptons and it came to about .2 ohms in my rda I have it spaced , So here's my settings I have it on 60 watts set at 480 so it runs about 3.4 ish volts and it been working well until today regardless how wet my coils are it drops down showing me it's running at 0.27 volts or a low number randomly and sometimes it does fire normally but drop volts very quickly I did look up online and set tcr to 95 still doesn't help I know for sure there's no short cause I build same exact build in my Mage rta tonight and same issue I'm super confused been using gpriv as temp control device

It sounds like the mod is going into dry coil protection when it shouldn't. Higher TCR will run it hotter, lower will run it cooler and kick in temp protection too early. If your TCR at 95 isn't firing the coil then possibly the wire isn't true 316L?

Or you do have true 316L wire but most chips can't properly control temp with a contact coil, especially a fancy coil, are you building a spaced coil?

I use 92 or 93 for TCR with 316L. With TCR, assuming the 316L coil is being controlled properly at 92 TCR and say a 450° setting, raising TCR would let it run hotter, reducing TCR number would run it cooler or not at all and just be in dry coil protection.

Not sure what mod you have but like kingpin said, the rda and coil need to be at room temperature when you lock the resistance in... if you have to lock the resistance with your mod.

Well its a spool from geek vapes fused claptons core is two 28g and wrap is 30g -316L SS so not entirely sure if that would matter and yes I did spaced my coils as I said was working normal before. However I did start playing around with settings I adjust the tcr as well as played with my resistance settings before it showed 0.210 coil when I set it at 0.240 suddenly it works as intended. Anyhow I use a smok gpriv I believe it should have the same temp control as others

I find with Smok devices your best off removing the tank before use get the mod to check atomiser when switching to temp control just to reset it often helps it

Also if the material is all the same in the coil doesn't matter how big it is the TCR remains constant ...just changes if you mix materials .. you need to play about with it the temp ...more mass more to heat up

Cool thanks for the info guess it's just a learning curve but overall when it works it works great really wanted to try using temp control for no more dry hits so far impressed . Also anyone here know if you can remove the pin from a Griffin mini rta? Having issues with mine reading wrong resistance I did screw it down but the pin keeps spinning and won't lock or come off

Sorry I don't have that tank but doesn't sound right to me ;) could be what's throwing off your resistence settings hopefully someone else who has it can advise you
