I've not found, after 4 years, of vaping; that any 1 flavor, brand, type of E-liquid has anymore "side effects" than another? I've never found any to have "side effects" at all.... EXCEPT, overall, vaping CAN tend to dehydrate some a bit off the rip, so I'd suggest just bumping up or paying more attention to your fluid intake. In the beginning, I recall getting a bit of a dry or pasty mouth or throat sometimes.... HOWEVER, it very well may have been the time of year? I stopped smoking and began to Vape in early October and live in New England, so the air gets colder and more dry and indoor heat has same drying effect. (Seems to be "seasonal issue" too, plausable coincidence). By nixing the chewing tobacco, your creating 100℅ better environment in your mouth, hun

I have found out in a short time that I am sensitive to the propelyne glycol sp? It makes me cough on the inhale at anything over 50% It also always makes me have an alcohol taste and breath even at only 30% of the efluid.
Having just bought a couple bottles of max VG (vegetable glycerin) I notice a huge difference and enjoy vaping even more.

I have no idea about eliquid that contains other drugs like caffeine, but I would avoid that if I came across one.

Having some fatigue issues myself, I personally take a Jet Alert (caffeine only that equals to approximately a cup of coffee) pill a couple times a week if I feel really out of it, or if coffee just didnt cut it. It is easy to control that way. I would never suggest vaping caffeine as it can be over done and I doubt that there is an accurate way to monitor the intake!

I know it is the pricey way, but because I am a noob, I went tasting at a few local vape shops and bought juices there.

I would actually be afraid of juice from ebay.

I think the best way to get something good and not too expensive would be to do your research. Google search flavors that you think you like, look at the reviews for those. Make sure that they disclose the ratios of pg/vg and of course be sure that you get a juice ratio that is recommended for your ecig. Some of the small mouth to lung vaporizers do not vape high VG well at all.

If your ecig or mod is a more powerful one and the tank is sub ohm, more VG is good but the nicotine level should be 6mg or lower for most people.

Read up and use the search tool on this forum as well. See if you can find a thread that discusses your particular ecig model.

i had an ejuice that had caffeine in it before. but my body is so tolerant of caffeine that it doesn't do anything for me. even 3 cups of coffee doesn't do anything but if you don't have a high tolerance for caffeine it might help

There are no properties in ejuice, nor would there be a specific or available additive that would assist with focus and concentration... I can tell you, as an LMHC, Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an LADC 1, that there are available prescription medications that CAN be EXTREMELY helpful with focus and attention... You would, however, have to discern how long you've had concentration issues and to what extent; normally with a Mental Health Professional... ***BEFORE any of this, I do recommend B12 derivatives, Thiamine, and Omega 3's (to be found in fish oil). These are things that can easily be found in your local pharmacy or GNC. While in Graduate School, I found some of those to be helpful...
It seems as if you've a good idea as to what works for you in terms of VG/ PG Ratios. I agree that you will find some great recommendations for juice vendors here within the forums... As I'm sure you've found, ejuice has can have a HUGE price range between vendors... It seems as if you've gotten some experience with this with vendors you've visited in your area... Most have their favorite "vendors" as well as ejuice "profiles". My experience HAS been, however, that your vape "set-up" plays a role with many ejuices. It seems as if you've experienced good flavor with higher VG juices, which is GREAT! This was an issue for me when I first started vaping, as normally, you need more wattage to get good FLAVOR with higher VG juices. (The "norm" and definite trend over the years has been climbing, to MAX VG levels). It took me FOREVER to give in to getting a sub-ohm set up to allow me to get this flavor "bump" with this VG climbing trend. This has made a huge difference in my ability to TASTE MY JUICE. I went through some frustrating times to get past that issue! I've found, over years of vaping and experimenting with many different vendors, that you don't necessarily need to break the bank to satisfy your flavor cravings... After looking through available vendors, seriously, don't hesitate to ask here for people's opinions. *I can PROMISE you that I have. I also PROMISE that I've gotten LOTS of recommendations and opinions that I've been VERY grateful for!!! You've gotten to a GREAT PLACE for support with your vaping issues! I've gotten lots of love from those here who here because they want to give, receive and share information.... :). Keep asking away and keep on keeping on

If you have not had issues without nicotine since quitting chewing, I would say stick to 0mg.

But chew transfers nicotine too. I went cigs to chew to nic. And I vape very frequently. I think due to chew giving a slow steady drip of nicotine instead of the fast hit from cigarettes. So I got used to having the drip all day rather than quick hit every hour or so.

Your concentration problems, if they started since quitting chew, might be a reaction to having no nicotine.

Is that a reason to add nicotine to juice? That is a question only you can answer. On one hand, you have made it this far without, so with a little more time, maybe the concentration thing will fix itself as your body no longer needs nicotine. On the other hand, a quick fix might be adding nicotine. And stepping down the amount of nicotine every month or 2.

Well, you actually do get nicotine from chewing tobacco. If you are doing fine with 0mg stick to that. There are some ejuice with caffeine but you probably should avoid those. To easy to get to much. Just chug a red bull (energy drink) when you need a hit.
I buy my ejuice at my local shop. 2 reasons.. I can't import nicotine (Canada) but also it supports my local shop, which is were I go for answers about mods, batteries, etc. Generally, batteries, juice and cotton I buy at the local shop. DIY supplies I have to get online (except pg/vg which i get from the pharmacy)
I had quit smoking before, cold turkey, and noticed I was sleeping a lot more, I haven't noticed that with vape juice though, since I use 3mg juice. (started at 18 and worked down)
As a rule, we don't support dry herb. To be honest, using a dry herb device is a waste of money. I can't say much more than that without infringing on forum rules. LOL. I can use tobacco as an example.. it is more efficient to just smoke a cigarette than use tobacco in a dry herb device. That said, we vape to avoid tobacco completely.
As for healthier e-liquids.. mainly you look at what is in them.
Flavor
VG
PG
Nicotine
You want your ejuice as pure as possible. Since those are your 4 main ingredients, that is what you want. USP grade is best. (USP is pharma grade and tested as safe for ingestion and inhalation. *or that is how the pharmacist explained it to me*)

I believe I heard something about candles or hot wax or similar air scenting products, using orange or lemon, aroma therapy that assist with focus. You would have to check into that though, since i haven't looked into that recently. Although, your best bet, as I think someone else said, would be see a doctor and treat the cause rather than just putting a bandage on it.

We will not however "focus"on dry herbs or any other references here, we are not that type of forum, any further posts about them will be edited out and points issued for forum rule violations.

I'll add this: Every time I go to zero nicotine my ADD symptoms (which includes focus/concentration) return. I might be stuck vaping forever. The lowest I can go is 1.5mg/mL. I use nic gum at work and it's working out great!. I can go 12 hours without vaping.
My thoughts on safe eliquid: I make my own so I know whats in it.
OP: here is a case report that may be a interesting read for you:

I agree 100%. In fact, it was a point of topic in a fairly recent phone discussion between myself and an official of Health Canada. (amazing what happens when you send an email to the office of the Prime Minister). The HC official asked about those types of devices. I stated they strictly were not vaping devices, but were a bastardization and not supported in the vaping community. Other topics were discussed as well but that was one point the HC official specifically asked about and how it related to vaping.

As we know, there is always going to be some idiot using devices (not just vaping related) for stupid purposes. Like jumper cables in the bed room. lol. All we can do is separate vaping from stupidity.

Well, stick to a nic level that is good for you. Nicotine on its own isn't the demon it was portrayed to be. It is only anti smoking groups denouncing nicotine based on the facts they had on hand. It wasn't that long ago that we found out about the dependency enhancing chemicals added to tobacco to make the nicotine much more dependency forming. If 1.5 or 3mg keeps ya happy... VAPE ON

I'm not sure what you mean by making the juice concentrate more. You can have extra flavor added or get + or - nicotine to your liking. Also, EVERYTHING has side effects. Both PG and VG cause some inflammation and minor irritation of the lungs, but far less than smoking. Usually these aren't even noticeable. Nicotine has side effects, Caffeine has side effects. It won't kill you, but it isn't 100% good for you either.

Mainly, vaping requires e-juice, not other things that will give off fumes when heated. We fight hard to separate ecigs from tobacco and cigarettes and keep vaping as vaping, and we have to keep it strictly vaping related to gain support from Gov and Health officials.

This is a pretty good forum actually. We need to keep vaping pure, but admin don't pitch a fit if we drop a cuss word once in a while or discuss topics "enthusiastically". For example, I'm not shy about telling another member to go play in the kiddie pool, for example, if they are posting new user comments in an advanced user thread. :) and mods never pitch a fit as long as there is no childish behavior involved.

Actually, the rules were put forth by admin/owner for his reasons, gaining support from Gov and heath officials I doubt carries a huge roll as to why these different rules exist, maybe some, but I doubt for those reasons alone.

I have discussed using herbs in this forum, just not that particular one as possibly related to vaping. You might find quite a few here that have hm, experiences enough with various subjects. :) We can speak up to a point in as much to say we might think that particular herb ought to be legalized, that prohibition is stupid. Okay, there's the line. Do I go further and say? Well, I better not because Whiskey has asked nicely enough. :)

I might suggest you try distilling the herb Valerian and using its juices, or using it in powdered form in a base juice for a sedative effect. Why a sedative effect? Well, someone who has their minds going at blinding speeds, flitting to and fro, needs to relax, to slow down and focus. To get what ratio dosage you need, try drinking the Valerian as an infusion.

You make a tea from it powdered, one teaspoon of the powdered herb per 8 oz mug of hot water. You can add honey, lemon, Cinnamon, sugar to taste. :) Once you find yourself knowing about how many cups of tea help you reach your focus point safely, try adding that number of teaspoons of powder to 1 liter of your base juice. So, if it takes you two cups of Valerian tea to focus, add two teaspoons of its powder to 1 liter of your juice.

There's how you discuss using herbs in vaping. :) I used to have a very excellent bound book on herbology, the use of herbs to treat ailments. I'm also fairly keen at surviving in the wild, not all out Rambo or special ops type but nonetheless I'm okay. :) What I don't know, I go find out. :)

Most of the juices on the market currently are all made with ingredients that are GRAS, (Generally Recognized As Safe). There a few chemicals you want to watch out for though. Whiskey could possibly tell you which those are, or any of the other moderators. At the moment I'm kind of splitting my attention, too. ;) :) I need to be in eight places. *chuckles*

You also might consider avoiding the really super cheap juices. Look up Mt. Baker Vapor, Ecig Express, Vapor 4 Life, Juice Mafia, Vapor Beast they all offer good quality juice at reasonable prices. :) You also can check out the listing of vendors here in the forum. The people here in the Velvet Underground don't recommend bad juice or bad gear. We're serious vapers even if we seem like clowns at times. :)

Welcome aboard.  :)
