This thread is for the knowledge of those who may be interested in learning how to safely extract and purify nicotine from tobacco. Obviously this nicotine is for personal use only and is not intended to be sold or given to others. There are different chemicals which could be used and different processes to use them with. These chemicals are additional hazards aside from the nicotine itself and should be handled and disposed of properly. Safety is my number one concern. Anyone who takes the information on this thread, messes up, and harms themself or another person, is solely accountable for their own actions. I do not endorse any process for inherent safety, simplicity, or purity of result. That said, lets go.
As one who always wants to save money and get a good product, I started making my own juice and using rebuildables. From minute one of my diy experience there has been a huge gaping hole in my knowledge. That hole is in regards to nicotine and how to make it on my own. Im a patient tinkerer and someone who loves science, therefore figuring this out seems like a challenging, but exciting project. Maybe Ill be successful, maybe not. But I wont say I didnt try.
To get started, here are some links to show the approaches taken by others. Since our nicotine would be for the making of eliquid, purity is an absolute necessity.
This vid shows a distillation process. I am under the impression that the amount extracted must go through another purification process.
There are also other methods from the very simple, (basically yielding tobacco syrup)

To the more intensive (supposedly yielding pure crystal)

To the absolutely obsessive (this dude has tried all kinds of things)

Please, add on what you know.
