I've been using mainly ss wire lately but wanted to try and explore Nichrome 80 wire. What is it and will it do TC ?? Do you have to use it as a Clapton cool that I have no experience with. ???? How does it perform in comparison to ss wire. I'm using mainly 24g in my rta

Nichrome is a nickel-chromium alloy wire. It will not work with any TC mods out there (to my knowledge.) It's resistivity is lower than kanthal A1 but higher than SS.

Lots of people like it for things like alien claptons and fused claptons because it heats up a bit quicker than kanthal and turns pretty colors, but you can build anything with it. You can use it for anything that you would usually do with kanthal. You can typically squeeze in an extra wrap or two vs kanthal without going too high up in resistance or having too slow of ramp up.

It's worth noting that just like with plain nickel wire, some people have problems with nichrome causing irritation. Most people have no reaction to it, but it can happen. Some people also don't like the taste, while others swear it's cleaner than kanthal.

Great. Thanks for the awesome details. When I read it was 80% nickel it made me wonder if it could be used as a TC coil. But no biggie. I am used to only vaping in power mode with the ss so this should work great. Having difficulty finding ss wire lately so I thought I may try this wire. I haven't had any issues vaping ni200 coils so I expect that this should go with problems as well. So 24 g Nichrome would probably be somewhere between kanthal and ss I'm guessing. Will check steam engine to be sure
