Being the Fod and Drug Admin., it would kind of make sense they come from the food or pharma industry...

it's still a huge conflict of interest. It be different of he just worked at one pharmaceutical company as a scientist or something. If he worked for tobacco companies instead, politicians (along with everybody else) would be blowing a gasket over it right now.

These positions are given out as rewards or promises of doing the bidding of the Administration... If they were not affiliated with pharma, they wouldn't get confirmed...
