Not much buzz about the Smok devices???

Most of the buzz with upcoming devices seems to be around IPV, Clouper and Sigilei. Is there a reason that not much attention is being paid to Smok devices??? The XPRO M22, M50 and M65 Plus?? Are Smok devices not worth a look compared to others???

I was reading about the new ones and it looks like on regulated mode you can't go below 1ohm unless you put it in mech mode? I dont know if this has anything to do with it?

Personally I've been pretty happy with all my Smoktech products, they make nice solid gear for less $ and I'm a pretty strictly budgeted vaper so it gives me a chance to try some higher end gear without having to buy a clone from who knows where. I've got the Smok Xpro BT50 (Christmas present :D) with an efest 30A in it and I run my Kanger subtank all day at 0.5 ohms and 25-30W with zero issues. I've run my RDAs down to 0.3 ohms/45-50W on it - it fires nicely and gives a great vape, though the battery doesn't last long at the high power levels. It's got a floating center pin so I never have to adjust anything on that end, every atty I own fits on there and the 510 connection is solid.

It looks like the newer ones (M50/M65) are using basically the same chip just minus the bluetooth.
The bluetooth capability is kind of fun but not really necessary, it lets you link up to an app on your phone to monitor settings and power levels, create firing programs (up to six intervals of 1-15s) and track your usage (only when the bluetooth is on though). Honestly if I had been spending my own money I would probably have gone for the M50 at the time but I've got this and it's great!

It looks like the M50/M65 are just a slightly stripped down version of the XPRO.

Guess since I'm doing a mini-review on it I'll give my own pros and cons on the Smok XPRO:
Pros: Small size, goes up to 50W, floating center pin, bluetooth/app control is pretty cool, my subtank fits like a glove (no hangover, it goes right to the edge like it was made for it!), easy controls.
Cons: clicky firing button (holy shit does this drive me nuts), firing delay when bluetooth is turned off (when bluetooth is on it skips the "XPRO" splash screen), battery compartment uses hex head screws that take forever to remove (also means I always have to have that one little allen key with me), battery dies FAST at high wattage

All in all I love it.

Sadly.. the clicky button and the hex screws are both big turn offs to me.. plus the 100$ price point for 50w doesn't seem justified just because it has the BT option.. but that's just my opinion - I've always loved smok products since I started vaping

haha yeah, I'm kind of stuck with it for the time being (it's my only regulated box mod) but I put a JWRAP on it and that has actually helped to cut down on the noise from the button, it kind of holds it in place better so it only clicks when you press it. I'd like to find a way to replace those screws with magnets but I think they're too small

yea the screws I have heard are a bitch.. hopefully with the v2 they learn and use magnets with it

Smoktech seems to be getting a bad rap. Is it deserved? The M80 has caused some trouble for Smoktech. What I like about SMOK is their boldness to innovate, even if they risk failure. Of course, if they fail, I might pay for it. But have they really failed in comparison to others such as Kanger or Aspire? I can find fault with any of the companies. I have Kanger, Aspire, and Smoktech hardware. None have met my expectations 100%. The search for perfection is doomed to fail...

Where there's, um, smoke there's fire... I prefer to go with a company that has a track record of reliable devices, especially something I'm putting up to my face that has the potential to blow up. Now, not to say that Smok is necessarily a bad company, it just hasn't exactly had a spotless history. The vaping world as an industry is still in it's infancy, the companies that will still be around in 5 years from now are the ones doing extensive quality control and standing behind their products and looking to keep customers coming back long term. This industry seems to have a new technological development advancing this " hobby" of ours almost week by week. I'm amazed at how long we've come in just 6 months, remember what you were vaping 6 months to a year ago?

Kanger began in 2007. Smok in 2010. Aspire in 2013. All in Shenzhen province. Kanger has the better credibility. But, dang it Marge! I like SMOK!!

Im actually wanting to try out a Smok M50...Not sure ill ever need anywhere near 50 watts as i dont use more than 15w now but you never know what the future will hold.

The mechanical mode is what im interested in most with it....Would be nice to have one device you can experience 2 types of devices with.

I have the Smok XPro M50 with the upgraded firmware to 65 watts. I like it alot. Initially the spring loaded 510 was a little wonky. So I buffed and cleaned the 510 with emery paper on the tip of a pencil eraser and cleaned with alcohol. Now it gives perfectly consistent ohm readings, and works great. I'm probably in the minority, but I would prefer a more solid adjustable screw instead of the spring loaded one on the Smok. They are just more consistent. My M50/65 is light, and reliable. Easy to pocket for when I'm at work or out and about. I don't use it over 20-25 watts max and keep my coils at 1.2-1.5 ohms. It gives me a great, reliable, pocket-able vape. I don't use the "Mech Mode" much, but I've tried it and it works fine.

I also have a Cloupor mini and although it's ever so slightly smaller and the 510 on it has an adjustable screw, I prefer to carry the Smok as it is slightly lighter weight and the magnetic battery door on the Cloupor sometimes comes loose when in my pocket. The Cloupor also has a very brief, but noticeable firing delay when coming out of sleep that you gotta get used to. Some early Cloupor mini's also had problems shorting out and burning up, but mine is a later production model and has worked great for months.

Back to the Smok Xpro M50/65. Some gripe about having to remove the screws on the battery door to change batteries. It takes all of 2 minutes and I don't change the battery very often, as it uses a really good quick charge system, making removing the battery frequently unnecessary. You can also vape and charge at the same time if you have to. Some also gripe about the fact that the Smok cuts the wattage down after some hard use on sub-ohm builds, but in my opinion, it's just doing it's job, getting the most wattage out of the unit as the battery gets depleted. The difference between it and some other competitors is that the Smok tells you that it's cutting the wattage back on the display while some other mods fake you into thinking you are getting higher wattage to your coil regardless of your remaining battery power (by always displaying the set wattage in the readout while in reality the produced wattage is actually going down). There is not a mod on the market that can give you a 50+ watt vape for any long length of time on a depleted single 18650. If you want to vape sub-ohm builds for long periods of time, you really need a mod with (2) 18650's or even 26650 batteries.
Bottom line is that both the Smok Xpro M50/65 and the Cloupor mini are inexpensive mods that get the job done if you keep your expectations reasonable and want a small and reliable mod with replaceable batteries.

I got one. No fancy non working TC crap, just a great little mod with some decent power!

My only issue with my xpro m65 is that it will tell me to check atomizer if I screw it all the way down. But it works fine if I back off a quarter turn. Other than that I'm very happy with it

I use my m65 with a Subtank Mini, and a Kfunlite v2, no issues like that with either topper. Quality control issues maybe?

I think SMOK is underrated and undervalued. SMOK offers quality at an affordable price. Not that there aren't better products, but I've had good luck with ALL my SMOK products!!

I was having an issue with my m65 dropping wattage above 35 or if it's cold out but I seem to have solved that issue with some authentic efest 35a batteries. Fired 65w whenever I want. Which isn't too often haha but I do enjoy my tugboat at 50 watts
