Not that much into FA flavorings

I will probably get punked here for saying this but FA flavorings don't do that much for me. I've been mostly a CAP and TFA DIYer for a couple of years now and like to think that I know how to make some pretty good juice. Along the way I kept hearing stuff pretty much like "if you're not vaping with FA flavorings you don't know what time it is" kind of stuff. Well I always like to know what time it is so when Wizard Labs started stocking FA flavorings, I started getting a few. I know according to a lot of DIYers FA is the proclaimed gold standard for flavorings but so far I have to say I'm not very impressed (and no I'm not over flavoring, I know how to adjust for concentrations of flavor). I notice with a predominately FA flavorings vape, the thing I notice above all else is the dryness of the vape, and not being sweet enough, and that something else seems to be missing. When I introduce FA to the mix it introduces dryness into it. I don't like dry mouth feel vapes. Might be the lack of diketones and stuff. From what my vaping taste buds have experienced, when flavor makers start taking that stuff out, a lot of the taste/feel goes out with it. It's why I'm not a fan of V2 of anything basically. Shit I don't smoke anymore, last thing I'm concerned about is the so called (cause personally I'm not convinced) bad stuff in ejuice flavorings. All frcking better than cigarettes, so I'm not concerned about it. I want taste/feel of the vape above all else. If I'm going to sacrifice the quality of my vape then why the hell am I doing it is how I view it. Is vaping safe? Putting anything into your lungs is not safe, but it's a hell of a lot safer than cigarettes, so there it is. If I'm going to vape, gimme the flavor, compared to cigarettes I'm good. Heh, done with the diketones rant now. Anyway back to FA. I'm still playing around with some FA flavorings (I have quite a few already) but so far they don't do it for me (not even close) like CAP or TFA for my vaping tastes/preferences. Just my experiences, tastes are subjective as a mofo and these are just mine.

It's all personal preference really. I use a mix of tfa, flavor west, a few CAP , and some Fa.

It's all good ... use the flavors that work best for you.

Nobody here is going to try and tell you otherwise. In fact, the vast majority use flavors from many different manufacturers. Some are more concerned with diketones than others but that isn't something that keeps anyone from participating.

I have some FW too. Been playing around the last couple weeks on the different combos to see how far I can get with the new boys on the block.. So far I've got FA Vienna Cream, FA Fresh Cream, FA Meringue, FA Caramel, FA nonascake, INW Biscuit, FA Cookie, FA Funnelcake. FW Yellow Cake, FA Applie Pie, FA Fuji, FW cinnamon Roll, and salted Caramel. The two FA creams I'm not liking much. Don't even know why call them creams cause they don't behave like creams do. I don't know what those bring to the table but it's not a cream as I think of a cream. No creaminess to them. More like powered milk that could not hold it's properties, if that makes any sense. Plus neither one are sweet on their own so bring no sweetness to the mix. All they do is make my mixes bland tasting when I want a creaminess and thickness to the vape. I'm moving along to see what I can do. I'll work with them along with my trusty CAP and TFA flavoring to see if I can create some harmony. Don't think I'm going to get there any time soon cause right now the boys aren't playing too well together. It's like bringing in new players to your football team. You know how the players you know play, you know everything about em, but the players come in with chip on their shoulders, the way you used to do things can get away from you pretty quick. So it's going to be keep the ones that can play and cut the rest. I have a feeling with working with them a little already, I may not many FA players still around when it's all said and done. Never say never until the cat lady sings (or some shit like that).

While what I use the most of does happen to be FA, I have, and use, a lot of brands. Whatever tastes best to you is the best thing, or brand, to use. I don't necessarily get the dryness from the majority of them, I have experienced that feel I agree, I wouldn't want that from a fave vape.

I have tremendous respect for FA; they've helped this industry grow when it was young and what they've contributed a lot in terms of research.

Their flavours are not always perfect but they mostly have the best tasting and most authentic fruits.

I'm not really convinced about diketones either, but as a hypochondriac who suffers bad anxiety, I figger it's worth it to avoid them, just for my peace of mind. :D But I'm not a huge FA fan either; I use a couple of theirs, I especially like their Flash for giving even my 3mg creamy strawberry vape good TH, but I mostly prefer INW, TFA, and one Capella -- Sweet Cream.

But I must confess, I got off on the wrong foot with FA, when I first started trying out DIY; I was still firmly entrenched in the "it must be tobacco!" mindset, and FA's Virginia is just plain NASTY, it tastes the way that celery smells when it has sat in the crisper long enough to liquefy and start to rot. So it took awhile for me to work up the courage to even try any other FA flavors. Their Apple Pie is pretty good, I must say, and I've heard their Cinnamon Ceylon is a good one too, similar to TFA's Cinnamon Spice -- real cinnamon, not that nasty cinnemaldehyde shit that tastes like scorched metal to me.

But that's why Baskin-Robbins makes 31+ flavors -- we don't all like the same things. :) Thank goodness there are so many variations of fairly basic flavors.

While the majority of my flavors are CAP and FA with TFA and INW filling some crucial roles, I don't think there's any one brand that can be called "the best DIY flavor maker". Flavor is a highly subjective thing, and I'm glad we have so many good flavors to choose from. FA custards/creams do not work for you, try CAP, TFA, or FW, that's the beauty of DIY, you can tinker around with it until it's just as YOU want it. :ejuice::bliss:

Only one CAP flavor Andria? Sooooo many good CAP flavors, mmmmmmmm. What kind of vapes are you into? Myself, I'm more into the bakery/deserty/milky/creamy/custardy/vanillay, you get the picture, kind of vapes. (gotta be why I like the diketones since most all my favorite/preferred flavorings have them). After 40+ years of smoking, that's what my palate can deal with. Adding fruit (strawberry all the way) into that is ok but generally I don't like fruit vapes by themselves. Put some menthol/koolada in my juice and I will hate you (not you) for the rest of my life! While I love coffee and a coffee vape is something that sounds good to me (medium coffee with sugar and coffee mate), I have yet to make or taste one I could tolerate. Peanut butter vape (while I love peanut butter) is another one for me that is a difficult vape. I've only made one so far that I've liked but to get it that way I had to turn the peanut butter way down and add sugar cookie, vanilla custard, bav cream, marshmallow, ethyl maltol and sweetener to it.

I originally bought quite a few CAP flavors.. but then I learned about all this diketone shit, and that almost all I had bought -- other than the Sweet Cream -- contained diketones. I'm not hysterical about diketones; logic tells me that they're probably not a real hazard, considering I smoked for 39 yrs and got a lot of diacetyl from tobacco smoke, and I don't have bronchiolitis obliterans... but I know how my hypochondria works, and given that the only symptom of B. O. is shortness of breath -- and I already have asthma, so I'm short of breath all the time! -- it's just better for my peace of mind if I avoid them as much as humanly possible.

My strawberry & cream is really more like strawberry custard, since I use both DX Bavarian Cream and Vanilla Swirl plus Sweet Cream in it -- but nothing for me except INW Shisha Strawberry actually tastes like real strawberries -- I've tried the CAP and TFA versions; they smell great, and have no taste at all.

My other two real successes are my Smocha, a sweet smoky mocha, and Cherry-Vanilla Pipe Tobacco -- both of which are heavy on INW and TFA flavors, but the Smocha also includes the CAP Sweet Cream -- gotta have that, in anything coffee-ish. :D Both of those and the Strawberry & Cream are listed in my blog here, in the 2nd link down below, "Andria's Best Recipes (blog)".

I've got the CAP Hazelnut V2, but the TFA DX Hazelnut is better; more subtle; definitely got the acetyl pyrazine, but doesn't bludgeon you over the head with it. Tried the CAP Vanilla Custard V2 -- YUCK! That's why I use TFA Vanilla Swirl. :D Tried the CAP Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble... YUCK. Tastes like scorched metal, which tells me it's not really cinnamon, it's cinnemaldehyde. If it was really cinnamon, I might like it, but I can't abide that scorched metal, tastes like I need to replace my coil! Even when it's brand new! :giggle:

FA does have a few good ones although I'm mostly in the same camp as you.
FA Cookie, FA Fuji Apple, FA Lime CP, FA Jamaican Rum, FA Meringue, FA Marshmallow and maybe a couple others.

TFA Dairy Milk is one of my favorites even tho it has some baddies, so what...
CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream & TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream are other favorites.
CAP Vanilla Custard v1 & CAP Sugar Cookie v1, yummy.
FW Butter Pecan, FW Hazelnut, & FW Cinnamon Roll are awesome flavors too IMO.

You should seriously try some of the INW flavors if you haven't, as I've really liked most everything I've tried so far.
INW Biscuit
INW Shisha Strawberry
INW Peach
INW Mango
INW Shisha Vanilla
INW Yummy Classic Cherimoya
INW YC Bubblegum
INW YC Blue Dwarf
INW Pinacolada
INW Coconut Cookies
INW Waffle (way strong, needs to be diluted, 1 drop in 30ml wow, sure tastes like Waffles tho)

I bought some INW Biscuit and Shisha Vanilla in my last order but haven't had a chance to try them yet. I was going to order Shisha Strawberry as well but ECX was out at the time. I got two small bottles of CAP VBIC (why did I ever wait so long to order this?) and have just about blown through them both, will order 4oz bottle next week and hope Shisha Strawberry is back in stock by then.

Dayum Heabob, how am I going to respond if the response would be considered plagiarism

Pretty much what I would say but add that I am one of the few who suffer from dry mouth with some FA flavors.

Am not the biggest fan of FA Fresh Cream but a mix I made a couple of months ago really steeped nicely. It only had 1% fresh cream and after a week ai wasn't a fan. I don't know if it just needed a month or maybe 2 but wow the creaminess was real impressive when I tried it again after 2 months.

Fa fuju apple is just so good and I do like cookie but there are a couple of others I like as much.

If you like sweet mixes then FA usually will benefit from a sweetener. That will help brighten up some of there flavors as well.

At least with DIY flavors are generally cheap to get small sizes to try. Beats buying a premade juice for 10 to 20.

I thought I was not that much in FA, but when I started to separate everything I have (excellent, good, will not buy again), I realized that FA was very important.

Fresh cream, Marshmallow, Vienna cream, Catalan cream, Lime cold press, Lime Tahiti,
Jamaican rum, Brandy, Whiskey... are some that I use regularly, and the list goes on.

Just shows how much diversity there is on taste buds. Personally I don't care much for FA creams and I'm a cream guy. For me, CAPs Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Sweet Cream, and Vanilla Custard (V1) are where the creams live. FW Sweet Cream is good too. No right or wrong which is a good thing.

Oddly enough I've never tried steeping longer with Fresh Cream or Vienna Cream.
Might be a "thing" many of us have just missed.
I suspect other Creams may benefit from longer steeping also.
But just like many others I hate waiting for more than a week:D.

It was @Squonk Creamy Coffee Cake http://vapingunderground.com/threads/creamy-coffee-cake.262725/ which actually uses 2% FA Cream which I thought was going to mute everything else that high. I also didn't have FA Tiramisu, had to use the INW version which I am not a fan of, at first all I could taste was the Tiramisu, not real creamy. If I was someone who dumps mixes it would have probably gone down the drain, luckily I am so cheap it is extremely rare for me to dump a mix down the drain :). This mix really transformed and it was one of the creamiest I have ever tasted, have to mix a big bottle and let it steep. I also just picked up FA Tiramisu so going to try that as well, the FA smells a LOT better than the INW for sure but after a long steep the INW came out much better than expected.

I have tried FA as well. I like a few but not enough to keep them. I get extreme dryness which causes extreme dry mouth, coughing and a sort of allergic response. I like Capellas, Inawera, hangsen, and now flavorah. I'm phasing out flavorart.

P.S. FA didn't bother me before when I barely taste tested. (I made the liquids for others).

I got rid of all the FA flavors that were in the mixes that made my mouth real dry. I even had a friend who tried a couple and his reaction was "Tastes real good but I take a vape and then have to take a drink of water, like I am vaping dust" Some didn't have that reaction though.

Really the only FA flavor I don't want to be without it Fuji Apple, love that stuff. I do like Nonna Cake as well but can't say I use it often. I probably still have about a dozen FA flavors, the only ones I will get rid of is Butterscotch and Caramel, neither is very good compared to others. The other FA flavors I will probably use up,Fresh Cream Surprised me with a long steep so maybe I need to revisit some others.

I more less agree with the op, not a huge fan of FA either. I bought a ton of FA flavors probably 5 or 6 years ago back when it was mainly Lorann and FA. They tasted dry and lacked the type sweetness I was after like you described. I didn't care for their tobaccos either they all tasted like mint or pepper to me.

Luckily my second go at diy I've found a few FA flavors that I do enjoy. Caramel, butterscotch, and maple syrup are all excellent imo. I actually found As far as non-diketone sweet creams FA Fresh Cream and Vienna Cream are also quite good and useful for bakery and dessert vapes. I can't say I've found any that are great as a standalone but they do work well with Cap and TFA.

I've used Caps Golden Butter quite a bit, never tried their plain butter flavor which I think has been replaced by the Golden Butter.
lol, turns out i have Butter Cream.. I tried it out today,, not bad,, not sure i would call it buttery.. but smoothish is about right :)

i figured you and a few others had every flavor known :)

I would be interresting to know which flavors were the worst in that sense.
I do find the nutty flavors to be more dry. I haven't really had issue with any of the other ones. I guess that could be different for everyone, though.

It was such a long time ago I really can't remember. It was right when I started DIY and that was maybe 2 years ago.
