Okay.......I've tried to figure out if this Samsung IMR18650 2500mAh battery will be ok firing a .17 resistance coil. How do you know if it's pushing the limit? (Besides venting or blowing up in my face) putting it in a tube mech

Besides the link above, there are apps for your phone as well. For me, it's pretty easy to just click on my app, rather then mess with the computer. I don't build or DIY near it.

So I put in numbers:
20amps
3.7 current
.17 resistance
It comes to 74 power
I get that, what I don't understand is what the battery will handle. Is this a safe setup? To me it seems fine, but I've heard people say building under .2 is shaky

No you put the values:
4.2V
0.17 ohm
And come up with:
24.7A
103W

You have a 20A battery so you should build higher 0.17 is too low.

Your fully charged battery can provide 4.2 v, which at 0.17 ohms means you're more like 100 watts, and 24 amps.
Is that safe? Probably OK if you have the best possible battery - which means 25 amp rating.
Which Samsung, and where'd you get it?
Is it the INR18650-25? That's a 20 amp battery. So yes - you're "pushing" limits, but you're not way past them...

Thank you...........I always put 20amp into equation because I was dumb thinking 20 amps to be a constant. NOW I realize it's not. I knew it was something simple I was not getting. Yep it's definitely too low a build for the battery. I do have a 25 amp I'll put in there. Thanx again!

So I need a battery that can handle 25amps or 30 if They make one. Sad cause I like the warmth of the lower builds. Fused claptons are pretty sweet. I will say I've had to change the battery 3 sometimes 4 times a day. Don't mind it though. I've had a battery vent on me before in a regulated mod. Scared me to death. I was on a cruise. I threw it overboard. It was poppin and cracking and leaking stuff, melted the inside of an IPV5. Damn singing it was!!!!!

LG HB6 is a 30 amp battery but the battery life is poor (1500mah)
