OK-It is DEFINITELY the magnets, defies logic to me.

Hi people.

As you may remember, I am more a regulated guy, but I do like picking up the odd mech or 2 here and then, and my last one was a solid copper, engraved 'angel' mod.

I love it, and it uses magnets for its fire button, which I love.

Thing is, you have to unscrew it just untill light nearly shows between the fire button, and the 4 finger slots on the bottom of the mod.

Now, if I change to a nemesis spring, you can fire with it right in, then push up due to the cutout finger holes (They allow the button to be pressed with 1 finger from the side as normal with the switch screwed right up) IT CAN fire.

But change back to magnets, it only works unscrewed.

I have cleaned it of machine oil, and everything else that may of been on it, and still with magnets it has this issue, I thought it didn't at first but that was in my head.

Now, the only thing I can think of this is a SAFETY feature, so it could not be fired in your pocket if something managed to push it up.

The only thing I do not understand, is how magnets cause this to happen.

The circuit is 100% complete. I have made sure it sets up with well enough room for the pin to touch with magnets, and the 510 end is 100% super tight.

So, could someone explain how a simple magnet is stopping the mod from firing when screwed up, as the button still can be pushed up to touch the battery, but does NOT fire.

P.S This is not an issue-I like it this way as it makes it safer. I just want to know how a simple magnet in the button of the fire pin and one inside of the mod can cause the circuit to not work. Can magnets effect electrons?

I've not seen your mod in person, but I can visualize a possible cause to your issue. If the magnets have a "stack height" when the button is pressed, that is thicker than the spring stack height... then I can see how it would fire only when the button is unscrewed, as doing so would allow additional travel of the button negative contact.

Hmm it could be that the button can be depressed more with the magnet removed. Only possible answer really-but it is a great mech. I see it more as a safety feature anyway, as when screwed fully it still sticks out around 0.5MM, but the magnest support it and it wouldn't fire even if it did get depressed-so it must be for that reason.

Thanks for a probable answer to what was really confusing me.
