It did not bend the pole. It broke it off about 4 feet above ground. The flag was flying because the forecast gave us no clue about the storm. It was to be a "normal" thunderstorm and that did not even happen until an hour after they were supposed to be over with, and well after dark, so I was in the basement on the computer when it started (can't hear shit from down here). We had no warning at all that we were going to get such severity, so I did not take the flag down. Were you able to repair the flagpole?...was the flag flying, or did the wind bend the bare pole?
Aluminum, about 2.5" diameter, 20 feet tall. The base is set in concrete. I built it about 14 years ago. It broke once in the past, when a microburst (a small horizontal tornado) took half my elm tree, but missed the spruce between the elm and flagpole.is this a METAL pole?
I'll bet you'll see it before Thanksgiving....just a wildass guess......Bon jour, mon ami.
First frost is not my issue, because it is always right about now every year (although the forecast you show does not include any frost yet). My visualization is the start of wintery "weather." That is, I don't want to see any noticeable accumulation of that white shit until around Thanksgiving.
lmao.......Well, you did tell me (some time ago) to have a positive attitude, so I am trying to visualize a warmer winter this year. After all, we have had a cold and extremely wet year so far, so I am working on things getting better instead of worse.
lmao.......
Your correct, it really can't get "much" worse.......
Then I have done my job and I can go to bed happy.lmao...
Yup. I dug out my antique gas auger and drilled some holes up near the old mailbox (about three feet deep). I rummaged through my stack of old wood (stuff that might become firewood) and found an ancient 8-foot long wooden fence post (4-6" diameter tapered) and planted that in one of the holes. I took the old mailbox post remains to the shop (after breaking three phillips bits trying to get screws out), used a grinder to cut through them, then carted all the pieces back out to the highway and screwed them together (Lannie helped hold it to the post), mounted the Love Acres signage and a couple reflectors, then turned the remains of the old mailbox post into a place to mount the driveway alarm. By the time I was done, my back was screaming in pain, but I wiped the sweat off and patted myself on the back (do you know how hard it is to get your own hand back there?).Get anything accomplished today?
HhahahahahaAt first you are awe struck, then when it keeps going on, you're a bit puzzled, then when it won't stop after you know this has lasted too long, a hint of fear sneaks in. Oh, wait, that wasn't Arizona rain but South Dakota blizzards....
Really? Where? Rockies or Sierra Nevadas?I see there are flakes flying already in the west
Aw, and just when I was finished bitchin'... well, I'm gonna crash now too. Hopefully I won't be in traction by the end of the day tomorrow and will have thought of something nice to talk about.I'm heading that way as well....have a good one Rich

Ummmmm... let's see... it was cloudy this morning when I pulled out at 9:00 AM. Off to Belle Fourche, then Spearfish. It rained lightly between there and Rapid City and a bit on the way back to Sturgis. By the time I got to Newell, there was blue sky over the part of the world in the direction of home, but then the sun went down. I think the home temp made it up to 69. Driving and trudging around stores for Nine hours and forty minutes. I unloaded only those things that needed to go in the fridge or freezer, then crashed with a plate of Lannie's world-famous Persian food. Every bone and muscle in my entire body is screaming, but I have a smile on my face because I don't have to do that again for another month.Well, you have anything nice to talk about.....
She sure does. Don't tell her this (don't want her head to get too big ) but she can make a hot dog taste good.thank goodness Lannie came through as usual with a great dinner.
One of the suckiest banks in this country. Give; em hell, Dale!inspect a bank of America branch
Yup. We may well have our first frost within a week, which will put an end to our garden, and it already is not producing anything. Sigh...I see they're still calling for near (or) freezing temps SOON, like in a few days.
I usually don't even pronounce the dishes correctly, much less spell them right. What we are having right now is Mad Ass Polo (adaspolo?). I better leave the response to this to Lannie. Her ex-MIL (from Tehran) once told her that she cooks Persian food better than a Persian can, and I don't doubt it for a minute. When I comes to Kitchen Chemistry, Lannie can sniff and dump better than the world's finest chefs. Maybe you'll just have to stop in for dinner one of these days. What type of Persian food does she make, damn I love that too
