Zackly, I know all about JD....not for me.The only problem I have with John Deere is that a large part of their price is the name.
Then the XT1 will fill your needs.

Don't have much time to shop...if Rich says it does the trick, good enough for me.....Tractor Supply has some nice mowers. if you don't wanna spend that much, shop around. Lowe's and Home Depot have some decent ones too.
Good to know, but I had all the trees near the house bulldozed into a burn pile.....Here's a little lawn mower test picture for you. About half my property is covered in trees (the circles in picture below). The bottom half of this picture depicts a lawn mower that does NOT turn sharply, so in order to get the grass close to the trees, you have to mow in a criss-cross pattern. Before you even think about using a weed whacker, we are talking way too many acres to walk around doing that (and, especially with my screwed shoulder, I cannot hold the damn thing up for very long). The top portion of this picture shows the pattern of a mower that can turn very sharply. The CubCadet XT1 turns almost as sharply as a ZTR, so I can nearly rotate around each tree, or curve in and out rapidly, then just straight cut the other side. Note that the cut around trees has to be in opposite directions for alternate sides because the rubber deflector (on all mowers) will not allow a close cut on the right side of the deck. The left side of the deck can cut within 1" of the tree base.

So does the grass go right up against the sides of the house? Turn radius also works around the corners of a building.Good to know, but I had all the trees near the house bulldozed into a burn pile.....
Just dirt now, Rich...the ole addie is planting flowers, et al near the house, no grass.Good night, Phil. Sleep tight.

Is "ole addie" the Ecuadorian equivalent of "old lady"? i.e., your girl friend?Just dirt now, Rich...the ole addie is planting flowers, et al near the house, no grass.
.....indeed......Is "ole addie" the Ecuadorian equivalent of "old lady"? i.e., your girl friend?
Later, Rich...!Well, the witching hour is upon us, so I think I'll stuff my tired old butt in bed. Yak at y'all on the morrow...
Not for long tho.....
Right on, Juice...I'm heading south next week for a few days, hopefully I'll be able to spread the winter there next year.Damn right - will finally be heading out to look at some land in early June - got everything booked and sown up today finally

The more I think about it, the more I wish I'd of picked Hawaii instead....oh well, to late now. If I don't like it, you may see me there too. That's fantastic - can't wait for updates from SA!

I would be happy too. I think it's an excellent place to live...!Hawaii was a compromise - I wanted to go to Ecuador - maybe Cost Rica - but Mr Juicy was reluctant to leave the US
Of course, things have changed a lot in the three+ years since we made the decision to make a radical move, but I'm happy with the Hawaii decision
Green paint pigment is expensive.Zackly, I know all about JD....not for me.
Well, shoulders hurt as much as backs sometimes. I have had my left rotator cuff screwed for a couple years now, but do not want to let the knife-happy surgeons have their way with me, so I do exercises and every time I think I have it licked, I screw it up again. So, Phil, we have another thing in common.

We may have reached 104° yesterday, but with low humidity. It was still awful. We usually get that type of heat in late July and throughout August, with 10 to 15% humidity.A long-time friend of mine just sold some nice land in Costa Rica. She bought more, with a house to renovate, and goes down there probably 6 or 8 times a year - more often recently, since she's been working with contractors on her house. She speaks mostly about heat, walking along the coast in the early morning, and the monkeys in the trees outside her window. Sounds nice, but also physically challenging.
I don't want to go any place that's any hotter or more humid than where I live now. We lived in Savannah for a few years, and that was too hot and humid for me.
Spending half your income on heating or cooling?
I went straight from heat to cool this year.
Right. If we had kids living here (or nearby) to tackle the daily issues, maybe surgery would be an option, but as long as I have to do all the heavy lifting, there will never be surgery until I am lying flat out and useless anyway.Neither of those is an option for you, eh?
I'm doing the dog yard again today (was mowed only five days ago) before the forecast afternoon thunderstorms get here (the advisory says up to 2" of rain in one hour).Might get my mowing done today...
Wish there was but noNot doing so good today.. congested and feeling ill.. hopefully I can shake it offf.. is there a vape juice for what I got?

Who still uses those? Besides lawyers and doctors, that is.What is your FAX number?
Be sure to sit it in your yard or garden before hitting receive.

I stopped using one when I started getting spam on it. The ink cartridges cost too dang much.Ohh that explains why I have not gotten a Fax in years....
Evening, Rich....

Bought the XT1 42in....still in the crate....perfect for shipping.
Hi Dale. You have the 42" and I have the 46"... is the handshake the same? If so, then teach me what it is.Evening, Rich....

Good price. The back of the mower has a small shelf with a <1" hole in it that will accept a pin-type trailer attachment, but there is not enough space there for the kind of ball trailer hitch that is used on cars/trucks.Got it for $1400, won't need the extra 4ins.......
He threw in a tarp supposedly made to fit, and a trailer hitch, but he didn't know if the hitch will actually fit the mower.......
