Being an old phart is a state of mind Don. I am almost 70 and probably the oldest on this thread (so far) and some of the folks are only 40ish, but we all remember when there were no smart phones, or computers, and we played all our "games" outside.

Yes, sir. I dang near have to bribe my kids to go outside. Thankfully boy scouts takes care of some of that for my son.

Jeans typically gave out on me after 6 months or less.
wife bought levis for me and the pocket corners started pulling holes in a few months.

I have been wearing some of my Dickies slacks for 5 years and still going strong.
for the price of 1 pair of unlined Levis I can get 2 pairs of lined Dickies.

Edit: maybe not. It appears that lined dickie slacks went up almost double in the past few years....
Now running close to $50

As I recall I paid around $32 a couple of years ago.

Spent my day at the horse piddle (lab vampires sucked blood, CT scan, audiology fitting), so I was catching up on my other e-mail shit and, yes, NOT ONE ALERT from this thread, so I didn't bother to check until just now.

And they were. Forecast for tonight was 10% chance of snow (typically, anything less than 30% does not happen). Their 10% also would have NO accumulation. Yup, it is 29 degrees, snowing, and the ground is now white again (THAT constitutes SOME accumulation).

As an active scout family for the last 10 years I can understand the change. Not that I completely agree with it, but I understand it. I know within our unit we have a lot of young ladies who've watched their brothers doing all these trips to hike and camp and many of them want to do the same things. The Girl Scouts don't seem to focus on these types of programs anymore. It's more of a cookie merchant and scrap booking club. Many of these girls want the adventure. They want to learn the same skills. My daughter wanted nothing to do with Girl Scouts.

The boys and girls units will share a committee (for now) but will run their own program.

Hell it seems they add a new letter everyday. I lost track about 5 letters ago and I work in the entertainment industry so it's very common.
