On the hunt

Hi all,

Been using my istick 40tc with ego one mega for a while.

Basically decided to get myself an upgrade. I have been looking around for an easy to use kit that will give a bit more power (and size).

I'm looking at around £100. Spoken to a few shops etc and done loads of youtubing.

I am fairly settled on the innokin cortex. Has anyone here got one/used one?

All the reviews make it sounds (possibly) too good to be true.

I am just hoping some here will have it and confirm it is as good as reviews say.

Cheers

Had to google it so I clearly don't know jack about it, but maybe someone else will chime in on it.

I will say some reviewers are less objective than others and there is no one perfect mod out there. At least imo anyways.

Same here. haven't heard of it. Take reviews with a grain of salt, especially if they are well known reviewers.

I've heard good things about it from a couple of folks at one vape shop, but that's it. I haven't seen it actually for sale in any other shops, or heard much talk about it. Good luck!

Do they have an evic mini / cubis tank that you could look at? Best deal for a single battery with tank deal in my opinion or just the mod... either way.

That was probably the best single battery mod of 2015 taking price and performance into the equation. I haven't heard of the cortex and neither have the guys above so that says something. It's not unkown because it is so awesome ;)

No the evic isn't available near me either. I don't really like the look of it either. Just looks a bit to square and boxy for me.

I prefer slightly more curve styling

You should definitely consider the IPV5 or the Evic VTC mini. Really nice mods, the size is good and it isn't 'so' heavy. I really love my ipv5 it's an excellent mod at a great price.

I guess if you are eliminating any mail order and only buying what that shop has in stock... and you like the look of that mod with appearance being the main buying factor... hop on the train and grab your cortex!

The snow wolf mini looks much better IMO. I like the sw mini. The design is good and it's a work horse. Hasn't skipped a beat since I had it. The black one however is a fingerprint magnet so rather go for other colors like the gold or the cyan or even the white.

I am not ruling out mail order. It's purely based on reviews and what i like the look of.

This is why i turned to you guys.

My local shops don't stock a lot. Mostly juice shops to be honest.

Pretty much anything i buy i want to be able to handle a play with a bit before i buy.

If I can't do that (which is looking unlikely) i am having to go by pictures/videos and reviews.

I want a built in battery. I don't want to get into replaceable.

And i am basing my cortex decision purely on reviews and what i have seen.

I don't have the time to go to the shop and try it out.

Innokin has built some good devices. The Cool Fire Plus is the one I hear the most about atm. The Innokin Disrupter has had some mixed reviews but most mods do when they get into peoples hands, and I find the Disrupter battery to be a cool concept but if I recall right they were a bit weaker.

If you are digging the Cortex and it is fitting most of your want list I say roll the dice and give it a go, but there are a few things that would make me leery of the Cortex. The first being it does not seem to support SS as a temp limiting material. The second is I did not see anything about it allowing for firmware updates. The third being that while it does have a rapid 2 amp charge rate the cord is sold separately. Come on include the damn rapid charge cord with the device. Of course continued use of rapid charge can be a con for the battery as well.

Not sure what reviews you were looking at but I looked at a couple too and here is what I looked at.

I did not watch all of Mike's review but I flipped around and about the 12 minute mark is the pros and cons section.
