Got the rest of my goodies in from FT today.

The silver play base is pretty nice air flow wise but you can certainly hear the turbulence inside the air ports while drawing from it...sort of the sound you hear when you barely crack a window driving down the highway...you just hear the pitch change.....Im going to have to get inside the ports and clean it up so it fixes it that... I Was surprised to see the ports went all the way through and they werent separate chambers.

The V6 chimney is certainly a larger diameter on the top chimney and makes for some great airflow combined with the silverplay base.

As far as the fit of the v6 chimney to the Orchid V4 top cap, you are more less squishing the top edge of the chimney into the o ring as opposed to it fitting through it..You cant really screw the top cap down fully but, its a minimal amount and still doesnt look that bad at all...If you wanted to take a 1 or 2mm off the chimney it would fit like a glove.

Heres a few pics of some different variations...there is one i havent shown yet but, untill the juice is used up in it it will have to wait....I would consider it to be what will be my favorite set up.

Silverplay base, Stock V6 chimney, 34mm KF tank.

Silverplay base , stock KF V4 chimney and bell cap.

Stock orchid v4 with silverplay base.

Heres a look down inside with the top half of the v6 chimney removed...just looks bad ass down inside there...Wicking should be very good.

I have a Kayfun style 'body ' that is solid metal, and also a setup similar to the Itaste, with the adjustable drip tip? I have changed the full meta body to one section plastic while I get used to the device, otherwise I do not know when to fill (apart from dry hits lol).

Bondo also included some silver and clear extenders to make my tanks bigger or smaller, which is quite cool :).

My phone is currently dead, as soon as it is working I will upload some pictures.

Welcome to VU...when you are able to get at least a 30w device ,it will wake the tank up and surprise you

Got the iStick about a week ago, finally managed to get a usable build in the orchid today, you weren't wrong. Vaping 12mg RY4 like stuff, diluted with extra VG, at 35W, more like a cigar than a cigarette. Only problem is I keep forgetting and taking a huge drag like I did on the small battery.

Excellent piece of kit.

Glass and metal mid section, I'm not actually sure what the top section is called lol, and a 510 rotatable ball tip, all provided by Bondo to me acoss the pond. (I love the rotatable drip tips, definitely going to get more)

Love this tank. It was a bugger to wick, but once I got it down, no leaks, and NO dry hits! And the flavour! My god the flavour!

He has sent me lots of bits to modify it, I quite like what I am using at the moment, but have many more metal and glass parts (Coloured) also the kayfun body, not sure which version but the top cap is removable to show two orange holes, you can fill through them.

I would use all metal, but till I am used to the rate it drinks juice I am leaving one section clear to see the juice.

Anyway, here is my current look:

Is the low profile top cap unscrewable to reveal two orange fill holes? As I have lots of part but do not know what they are called, as my American friend Bondo sent me the orchid, plus lots to mod it with.

The cap I sent (the one with the orange holes)is simply called a top fill cap.
I'm pretty sure that the only actual orchid parts I sent were the deck and chimney.
The tanks, rings and top caps were all kayfun/taifun parts.

Ahh thanks man. Top fill cap, the rest is all kayfun, I can remember that. I am finding I am using this more than my Lemo v2, it has more flavour. A lot more actually. I am thinking of trtying dual micros in the lemo to see if it will bring better flavour.

Did you ever use the top fill cap? I tried the method with the screw this morning, much better. Got a completely full tank, and zero leaks.

No. I never used the top fill cap.
I got three of them in a parts lot and they never really appealed to me.
I actually had plans to make my own custom rda/tank out of them.;)
If you take the cap off and turn it upside down it makes a perfect predrilled atty base. With a little machine work and some posts it would be a pretty good starting point.

Hello! I have read through many posts in this thread, most notably the ones concerning what is happening inside the tank when it is turned on its side, upside down, etc. My question is, is there anyway to prevent leaking when on it's side? I have a small carrying case I like to use for my tanks and drippers, but that requires the tanks to end up on their side. Would sealing the air holes be of any help, and if so, what would be the best way to go about that? This tank vapes too well to be taken out of my rotation.

Problem is that once the juice holes are exposed there is no vacuum to keep the juice in. Kind of like dipping a straw in a glass of water, put your finger on the top and pull it out... pull that finger off and there's no way to stop that water from dropping out.
Maybe a little rubber nipple plug but there would probably be a drop or two spillage when you pull them out. It would have to be a good tight fit and probably not the easiest thing to find.

Probably easier to find something to transport it right side up.

A silicone atomizer ring might seal the side air holes adequately. You would still have to plug up the chimney though.

You could use a driptip that is a tight fit and fill it with something to seal it. Just not sure what I would use and be ok with the possibility that it may come in contact with the juice.

I did not like the bell cap, am sending it on. However, do you see that silicone plug? I use it to plug the driptip hole when opening it up with juice in to change bases. Maybe it would also work for storing the topper on its side. I have been wondering if a cig filter would do the same job.

This by far is one of the best topics on VU imo. Is the Orchid hype over?

Today I left the house and didn't notice that My Orchid was almost empty. By the time I got to my friends house it was cashed and he didn't have a syringe to refill it. I remembered some of the ways others were filling there's on here but I think I tried something new.

Step 1: Place vapeband over AF holes
Step 2: Remove topcap
Step 3: Fill tank within 3mm +/- from the top
Step 4: Screw topcap back on
Step 5: Remove vapeband while blowing out through the drip tip
Step 6: Wipe up the 3 or 4 drops out of the AF holes
Step 7: Vape happy knowing this was the fastest that you might have ever filled your Orchid!

If you do step 5 with the Orchid upside down, juice won't be drawn into the chamber when you blow and less will come out. At least that's what I do.

I still use my heavily modified Orchids, but the stock ones less and less. There are many more choices in dual coil RTAs these days than there was a year ago.

Necro post...

Thought I'd throw a SS build in the orchid mini for shits & giggles, still great vape & flavor and now with a retro gear bonus thrown in :D

Vaping fantastic on temp control, better than it's ever performed

I've used Ti1 in mine a few times but it seems like I have to replace the cotton more often. I'm already changing it every two tanks with kanthal or nicrome.

Yeah, not much wick fits in these but I used to get days of life out of a build. May get more with SS & TC... we'll see.
Haven't vaped with this in probably 6 months now. It's a nice reunion :)

I used a tall m tank, and the stock middle section and top section. Put a piece of aquarium tubing between the top of the chimney and the topcap. This was for a sore throat mix, my ADV for several days when everything else was too harsh. It could be built infinitely tall-- barring dysfunction from the weight of the juice making a good seal impossible. Someone mentioned that I ought to post it here, but too lazy at the time.

I can't get the picture to transfer.

Np.

A drip tip that far from the coils would definitely be good for a sore throat. Must give a cool vape compared to stock.

That was in the few previous posts. However, I have been single-coiling Orchids for more than a year, and I tootle-puff. Nothing fancy for me. I like the hole-in-the-post design, had a Russian, but was frustrated with the wind-around-the-screw design, and tossed it. Now I regret that. Someone gifted me with three Ehpro Kayfuns :bliss:, and I was at FT last night, contemplating the transition. https://www.fasttech.com/products/2088400 and https://www.fasttech.com/products/3793100 and https://www.fasttech.com/products/1976601 should do it, right?

I would consider this base :
