While there was much about "Truth Be Told" that I enjoyed, it didn't quite stick the landing like I'd hoped. Overall, I'm glad the show had the chance, in its shortened final season, to hone in on Reese a bit more than usual. As the series has grown over the years and become more of a true ensemble, it's sometimes easy to forget that Reese was pretty much THE guy for two seasons - with the informative, emotional episodic flashbacks being divided equally between him and Finch. So I liked this return to Reese's angst and agony. It's just that "Truth Be Told" came with nothing new to say about it really.

It was cool to see Keith David pop up here as Reese's old morally questionable boss, Terence Beal. He's a fun, engaging presence (and arguably the best part of Community's final season), but it did make me wonder if this was the right time to introduce a whole new character to the show. An apparently important character, with regards to Reese, who we're just now meeting for the first time. It's one of those situations where, given Reese's past conflicts with Stanton and Snow, Beal's name should have come up at some point. So there's some swift ret-conning going on here.
