The sound of two black holes colliding ends with a middle C note, according to physicists.
The worldwide scientific group LIGO reports they've found the first hard evidence of gravitational waves. If they can replicate it this could prove right one of Albert Einstein's unconfirmed predictions. Namely, that binary star systems made from white dwarfs, neutron stars, and in this case black holes can push and pull the fabric of space-time.
The New York Times states that LIGO made the gravitational wave recording last September. The incident is laid out in a report by more than 1000 authors in the scientific journal Physical Review Letters.
