Plastic Bottles Not Good?

Good morning fellow vapers. I have but 1 question so far today. When I make my flavors up, I always follow my recipe exactly as it is written, and I usually make 60 ml glass bottles of each one. But for going out purposes, I use a 30 ml plastic bottle to carry with me, as things slip out of my hands from time to time.

But I have noticed that the flavor of the juice in the plastic bottle starts to go dull after a couple of days, while the juice still in the glass bottle remains the same as when it was made. I steep the juices as they are needed, so I'm not cutting corners there. So, my question is, should I just get rid of the plastic bottles and only use the glass ones? I have noticed that when I order flavors from Wizard Labs, they always come in glass bottles.

I'm beginning to think that a plastic bottle will & does leech the flavor from my juices. What do you think? Thanks for any advice....

All I use is plastic and haven't noticed fading, although some flavors will fade some anyhow.
Never used glass much as it's too much trouble filling my small tanks with eyedroppers or messing with syringes.
Smaller drops with the flavorings "drip tip bottles" allow me easier control for measuring drops into bottles with my scale.
And breakage too of course.
Wonder if it's the type of plastic bottles you're using, quite a few different types.
I think the most commonly used types are HDPE, LDPE, & PET.
But some do prefer glass due to cleanliness & no chance of leaching any plastic into juice.
Best not to heat up the plastic ones either...

Depends on the type of plastic.
LDPE and PET are ok to use, but plastic polycarbonate is not. Citric acid reacts with the plastic causing it to break down (hence why some juices are considered tank crackers). It has nothing to do with the juice itself, anything with citric acid would do it, even plain regular fresh squeezed orange juice. The breakdown can result in particles of plastic leeching into the juice causing cloudyness or gunk or cracking the material.

Another thought is UV light.
Depending on exactly how it's made, plastic and glass can block some or all UV rays. It's not anything special either, just something that happens to be characteristic of the recipe used to make the materials. It's possible that the glass bottles are blocking more UV then your plastic ones. Especially if the glass bottles are amber or green. If the plastic bottles are clear or semi-transparent, they may be letting UV in and it is darkening the juice.

The plastic bottles could also be trapping heat in them from the sun resulting in heating the juice and darkening it faster then the glass does.

Plastic bottles generally don't have as secure a cap as glass bottles. While they may be secure enough to prevent juice leaking out, they may not be completely airtight. Could be letting small amounts of air in them and the juice is changing color from oxidation.

Where do you keep your travel bottle? Since this is the one you take with you it is subjected to multiple changes in the environment while your glass ones are at a constant. Have had this happen with a travel bottle of mine. Stuck it in truck and well 20 degree weather to 60 then back and so forth. Flavor does change atleast to me.

I do much the same, but I use smaller "on the go" plastic bottles -- once when I ordered from VaporBeast, they sent along a 15ml unicorn bottle as a freebie, and that's my usual for on-the-go; I'll probably get a couple more of those, so I'll have diff bottles for diff flavors.

It's really not a bad idea, just use smaller plastic bottles so the juice doesn't have to sit in plastic too long, if you notice that big a difference. What I mainly notice is that the juice oxidizes faster in plastic, because the plastic is clear (mostly) so more light gets to it, than in the brown glass bottles.

I keep mine in my lunchbox for traveling to work.
In my pants pocket for running around locally, but usually don't carry any spare juice for short trips about town.
Or in my laptop case, as I try to keep that at room temp as much as possible anyway.

OK guys, I appreciate all of the great info. The plastic bottles I use are one I got from another flavor distributor, & I thoroughly washed them out before I re-used them. I can't say for sure what type of plastic they are, so just to be safe, I'm gonna toss them & order the LDPE or PET ones. My glass bottles are all amber color & I keep everything in my office away from any sun.

I've used both glass and plastic, but my go to is plastic. I always buy LDPE.
Hiya Huck...I'm looking at some LDPE Needle tip bottles on Amazon, & seriously thinking about grabbing a 10 pack of those for $3.99 + $4.53 shipping. The needle tip has that little rubber type cover that goes over the tip.

Just have to make sure not to push the rubber cap down too hard, or I'll punch the needle tip through the top....lol....thanks for the advice....
