Yeah, I got one, the BF version, it's super except for only 2 things

Gets hot fast with 20+ amp current
Paint is coming off

I still use it all the time, I just quit using really low ohm coils in it at 70 watts

The 2 battery version may not have that heat problem, but I would look it up

I put a thingy in the alien thread about multicore aliens, @BoostedTrini
Thanks for the advice. I'll have to look into that before making a decision

Oh no, that's slower than usual for them I think :( maybe they got super busy over the holiday

My order from kbeewholesale, I'll be amazed if I get it this coming week at all lmao. I expect them to be slow with dirt cheap prices and free shipping so that's fine - $18 for 600ft of ribbon, GOOD ribbon
Kbee is good ? I thought they had bad spooling and not quality wire ??

Actually, not much a fan of the wire they sent with the RDA, looks pretty, but I think the quality of wire is crap.

The stainless steel build ( colorful 6 wrap) ran much to hot.

There winner as usual per my style of vaping

Framed staple 5 wraps 2x28 6 ribbon cores 40g wire.

I'm going through some tough times. I will have my Year celebration very soon. The devil keeps trying to claw his ugly face back into my life.

Hopefully things look up. Gotta try n be as positive as possible in times like these. I know I'm doing the right thing and I know that while I don't deserve the things I'm going through, one could hope they make me stronger.

Thanks VU for giving me the knowledge I needed to not only get off the smokes and dip, but to maintain a hobby that I love to help me stay clean off h*roin, alcohol, and c***k.

July 18th, 2017 to July 18, 2018. I almost have a year. I'm so close.

Some is bad, some is good, hit or miss

My 6x100ft spools of .3 kanthal ribbon were perfect

My 6x100ft spools of 40g kanthal were underspooled (short), spooled badly, and covered in greasy dark shit

Is it alot harder than reg. Alien wrapping?

Sent from my SM-G955W using Tapatalk
Not really. If you can make an alien without difficulty, then these are easier than they look. Generally, you should keep your stitching wire smaller than your alien decore. I tried it with ribbon stitching once - it didn't come out anything like I was hoping it would. I can't find the pics right now, but it was interesting. Gotta get more organized.

Here's a stitched alien fused Clapton I did once:

What size de- core for that build?

Sent from my SM-G955W using Tapatalk

26 gauge decore

3x30=30

go down 2 gauges for each extra core so like

3x30=30

4x30=28

5x30=26

6x30= 24

7x30=22

and so on, same for other gauges

4x28=26

8x32 = 22

you can also go down a gauge lower, but it'll make your cores twist up towards the end

If you bind and hot glue both ends of the 4x28, pull the stick tight/straight after glueing, keep your ribbon slider less than an inch in front of your alien wrapping, and fully stretch your decore, it should stay flat

I leave about an inch of extra stick past the binding/hot glue on the swivel end to loop around the swivel

Be sure to use toothless pliers after binding the ends and while setting up the ribbon slider to flatten the bindings

I hope that helps, I'm making a 5x30/36 alien later, I could take pictures

Thank you for the reply. I've found out the issue today. The wire holder I was using was Patino's Alien Maker. The issue was the 28g one is too big for 28g wire, triple or quad cores...it allows for too much upward movement. I managed to fit 3 26g cores in the 28g one. I did quad 27g Aliens and they came out perfect...nice and flat. Now the issue is to find a wire holder wide enough to snugly hold 4-5 28g cores flat. I've ordered the 30g Patino's to see how that works out. I don't use hot glue because I find it slows me down way too much. I need to be able to make at least 50 of these a day consistently for them to be worth it. I do appreciate your advice though...somehow, some way I always find a situation where I use advice I got for some unrelated build, however long ago.

Only have 26 kanthal and ss. Need to get the higher gauges I'll try it with both 26 will post pics when I get done

Sent from my SM-J327P using Tapatalk

Try a twisted build with the 26g SS. Take like 3 feet of wire, fold it in half, twist the ends and stick it in your drill, put a screwdriver or something in the loop you made and pull it so you have two wires side by side. Twist it while pulling the screwdriver with enough tension to keep the wires straight until it snaps. Make coils just like regular coils but 1 or 2 wraps fewer than you like with your standard single wire coils. It’ll be higher resistance than you think, it’ll taste really good, and it’s not as heavy and hot as 26 wrapped in 26.

I don’t know the exact decimals and it’s all approximate but I think of it like this:
22g ~ .6mm
24 ~ .5
26 ~ .4
28 ~ .3
30 ~ .25
32 ~ .2
Ribbon ~ .1

Add up the wires in a stick for your width and divide by three to find your target decore gauge. Bigger than your target is more wavy, smaller than your target is tighter.

You could do what I do...bend a paperclip into a loop, put it in your drill chuck, make sure it spins centered in your drill. Use 2 strands of 28g and loop them through your swivel and pull them parallel and tight, then pull them through your loop in the drill, wrap them around themselves. Pinch the looped wire to flatten the cores parallel, then just add your ribbon slider.

This is how I do all my alien builds or builds that use round wire cores....loop swivel and then the cores and your done. Pulling the drill tight makes sure all the wire are tight and parallel.

Its much easier and faster IMO.
I do the something similar for framed staples and other Round wire framed builds. I will get the ribbon stacked and set aside. I will loop the round wire (if staggered frames I twist ends to swivel) and I loop it through the drill loop. I put my finger between the wire and slide it towards the drill loop (this opens the wire up), then put the stack of ribbon between, add one ribbon slider while holding the frames and ribbon together, then glue. Add one more Ribbon slider and slide to the swivel end and pull stack tight and glue it (I will leave this end loose if staggered). One more slider for where I will be working (fusing).
It may sound like alot but its very very quick and it works for Alien Framed Staples, SSFC's, and more. I will try doing a stream later on IG using this method.

This is interesting. I shall attempt and report back when I do. I have some triple cores to knock out over the next few days. The 27g quad cores came out so nicely it's a shame the wire holders are too loose for 28g. Honestly I wish they made a wide body 30g and 32g Alien maker with the same clearance as the others. That would be a life saver for me. I'm shying away from using the ribbon binding because if I get these down I'll want to be able to do them by the hundreds so I would rather avoid having to buy ribbon repeatedly just for that. That being said, I shall be trying all of the advice given and I do appreciate it. It does help.

I use alot of Kbee, Coil Society, MasterofClouds, Kingorchid, and 270wirez....get what you can afford and works for you....most of it is the same but theres some from all of them that I find "the best"

KBEE Wholesale: Buy .3R Kanthal (600ft for $18)
KBEE Ebay Store: 100ft of .3 Square N80 for around $17

CoilSociety: Buy SS Ribbon .2 and .3 ($35 for 500+ft)

MasterofClouds.com/Wholesale: Buy (5) 100ft 28g in N80 or SS and (5) 250ft 36g SS for about a $1 per Spool. I also pick up the (5) 100ft .4 Ka1 Ribbon for Ribbon sliders (around $1 each)...

Kingorchid (Ebay, search "Resistance Heating Wire"): Buy 1000ft 38g/40g KD or 500ft 40/42N80 ($8-10), 1000ft 46g KD ($9)

These are the best deals Ive found and use very often....saves a ton of money and the wire isnt bad. IF you bought it all at once it would be around $220 for about a 6 months worth of wire (dual spools of higher gauges and what not), even if you build every day like I do.

If your core wires are all tight and you stretch the decore so it doesnt require much tension than you will find you wont need to use them or ribbon anymore.

I'll input some advice that I haven't seen on the thread before. For triple cored Aliens I use the wire holders that come with the Daedalus V1. Those hold the cores tight so there's no need to use ribbon but you cannot use the decore to slide the holder along as it is too tight for that. I use 2. One in the chuck so I'm sure my wire is centered and one to slide along my rod. With that method I can do(and regularly do), from decoring to finished Alien rods(14 inches of Aliened wire per), 80 Aliens worth in about 7 hours. The Patino's Alien Makers I use one gauge up to get a tight enough hold on my cores...so the 28g works beautifully for 27g Aliens and I have the same output. I only use one holder on a 16 inch rod and have the holder about 8-10 inches away(so I only make 1 stop)

I've found this to be true. I really still use them for times when I may slack off or have a hiccup. It's more insurance than need. I build a lot of Aliens and my stretch isn't consistent throughout the day. I use Jacob's wire for my wrap wire. It is the best wire I've used to far, noticeably so...but I find it requires a little more tension to not be sliding off my cores than the Temco wire I was used to.

This photo is perfect. The "issue" I'm having is most of my quad 28's come out like the coil on the top...but I want them to be coming out like the one on the bottom...which currently happens with 1 in every 4 rods(3 coils per) I do.

Might be dumb question, but have you tried rolling a tube over your alien sticks before coiling

Not dumb at all, because I don't. What tube exactly?

A stainless steel tube mod, or rolling pin; with your 36g wrap you could put a fair bit of pressure on those OoOo sticks, might help flatten them

Or you could orient the tube length-wise with the stick and press in the middle of the stick to make it OooO, I think that is likely to work if flattening by rolling does not

Hmm one of these coils was really heavy tension. The stack collapsed halfway so I stretched my second decore more and it went on with very light tension and lots of room from the slider.
What looks different about them too you? Because I don’t know which one was which hehe.

I'm beginning to think that if I stretch a little more I'll have less issue. The coil at the top of the photo has the two inner cores staggered high and low...so no matter which side you wrap it, it comes out with a hump...whereas the coil at the bottom has the two inner cores offset from the outer core wires, giving one side of the rod a hump and the other a sink...which is the way I want mine to always come out like.

Live Stream is up (for 24 hours) for the poor souls that want to watch it. Its only view-able using the Instagram app so if you dont have it download it and make a account, its a good idea regardless.
https://www.instagram.com/raymo_2_u/
Click my Avatar on Instagram App and then click "LIVE" on the bottom of the screen.

I used my "Quick Loop Method" a few times with different builds. The builds shown were Framed Staples, 5 Core Aliens, SSFC's and a followup stream that finishes off a set of 4 Core Aliens using a larger decore (24g decore).

The SSFC build I also show how I use a spool tamer to stagger.

I made that ssfc stick big enough for 3 coils, here's the third one, big skipping
12x.3+30/46 kanthal
0.22 ohms single, 44 watts or higher

P.S. I just ordered 1,250 ft of 36g SS for $8 from Master of Clouds Wholesale, one of about a bajillion tips from @raymo2u 's instagram video - it's worth signing up for IG just to watch that one video
