AMC sent the first four episodes of Preacher out to press before it debuted, and of the bunch, all of which I liked or loved, I’d say this second episode, “See,” was the weakest.
It’s all relative, of course, and “See” is actually a very good hour of TV, with a lot of entertaining moments – and you can’t say something doesn’t stand out when there’s a scene where a dude’s chopped off arm is sliding forward holding a running chainsaw aimed at the protagonist’s head – but overall, there was a bit of a feeling of running in place here with some segments. It’s not uncommon for second episodes to feel like they’re re-presenting ideas from the pilot for potential new viewers, and that was sometimes the case here.
