Provari???

I caped once upon a time. Had a provari mini and LOVED it. I sold it when I stopped. I am looking to possibly get back into it. I went to go buy a provari mini again and can't find it. Provape.com is closed and that's where I got it.

I also had this handmade glass tank. It was painted and maybe from half moon mods? I can't remember but I'm frustrated trying to find it all again.

Where can I find these and if they don't make them anymore, what is there that is relatable to the provari.

Provape closed it's doors several month ago

But vaping has grown by great leaps and bounds since they days where ProVari was considered top of the line

Atomizers have gone way up in terms of flavor and/or clouds also - it's a whole new world from where it was even six months ago, lol

Can I get some recommendations for similar? :)

Hi  Welcome!

Since you mentioned a mini you probably had a Provari 2.5. There are a ton of them out there - mostly on the used market - but if you search for "Provari 2.5" you may turn up a few shops that still have some left as new. You could also post a WTB in the Trades forum here and see if anyone has one to sell.

From your description of the tank it sounds like you were using a carto tank. The industry for making carto tanks died as bottom coil changeable (BCC) clearomizers vastly improved over time. As it is it's nearly impossible to find much available in cartomizers any more, let alone carto tanks to go with.

Having said that a mainstay that has been around a long while in a BCC would be the Aspire Nautilus/Nautilus Mini. If you do get another Provari the Nautilus Mini would be a good match for it.

If you are wanting something similar to how Provapes did with the Provari line, look for a device with an Evolv DNA control board (Evolv were the company behind the old Darwin mod back in the day). DNA### (where ### will be like DNA75 or DNA200, the number after the DNA is how many potential watts the device can output). I have an HCigar VT75 (DNA75 chip) along with a couple older Hana DNA40 and DNA30 mods that are still going strong, the DNA line is a DC to DC output for the most part like the Provape chipsets so are very steady flat signals, some mods with a DNA board can get a bit pricey but are well worth the investment, especially the DNA133/200 (dual battery/triple battery or LiPo battery) have an almost 97 to 98% output efficiency so make them almost dead on accurate what they are saying they are doing. Even with such a high powered chip/mod doesn't mean you need to use all that power, you can still get away with using a mouth to lung tank with them, but because they are so powerful allow room to experiment with higher powered tanks, example the new Aspire Nautilus 2 (mouth to lung) and when you want to kick back and rip out a huge tasty cloud a good UWell Crown 2 or a TFV4 tank.

Without much more info as to your style of vaping you want to get back into, mouth to lung (Nautilus Level) or direct to lung (the Crown 2 tank level) with so many devices on the market now hard to suggest just a random guess.

Thank you guys very much!! Don't get it mixed up, even when I vaped, I seriously had no clue what I was doing. I was recommended the provari via this forum so I knew you guys would be able to help me.

I am going to call some places to see what I can find but if you say that things have severely changed and improved since I quit vaping and I need to look for something else, any recommendations would be appreciated

Welp, where are you at right now? Are you smoking at this point or looking to avoid going back to smoking?

I am back to smoking and feeling TERRIBLE. Absolutely terrible...

 'kay. I just wanted to get a sense for that, as far as how much 'power' you might want to handle with all this new gear available getting back into vaping again.

P.S.: If you are considering a Nautilus the Mini won't overhang the beveled top ring on the Provari. But the bigger full size Nautilus will.

I haven't ordered yet because I'm not sure of what I am getting. I am questioning if what I am getting is correct I guess.

It depends. (sorry...)

A Provari mini uses 18350. With the extension cap 18500.
A Provari "big size" uses 18500. With the extension cap 18650.

The mini with the extension cap takes an 18650 - just whipped out mine

Also, needs button top on the battery

Throw up a list - you can include links - and someone can take a look.

I have so far in my bag:
http://www.dfwvapor.com/index.php/ecig/mod/provari-mini.html

http://www.dfwvapor.com/index.php/batteries-chargers/size/18350/imr-18350-battery.html

http://www.dfwvapor.com/index.php/batteries-chargers/chargers/efest.html

I'm stuck on the tank because that sell the nautilus but not the mini so I'm searching for that piece I need but I'd rather not get that. I'd rather get the mini...

It can't. Unless you have an aftermarket cap or tatroe ring. The two models use the same OEM extension cap adding 15 mm to either one. 350 -> 500, 500 -> 650

Mine must have been aftermarket I got at the same time - it's been awhile since the ProVari days, lol

Because mine sure is rocking a 18650 battery right this second :)

I got new batteries for mine right when ProVari announced they were closing shop

You sure ya gotz a "mini"??

Mini on the left, WITH extension cap.
Standard (not-a-mini) on the right WITHOUT extension cap.
Both of these take an 18490.
To put in an 18650, you need a Standard WITH the extension cap - or an extension cap PLUS an extra bit of tube for the mini!!

Everything there is fine. The charger is a bit overkill. In general it looks like their inventory is a bit thin so the Nautilus Mini and coils to go with will have to come from elsewhere.

Why pay for a provari when there are mods out there that are cheaper and better? The provari menu system alone brings the value of the provari way down IMHO. Also, if you do end up eventually ditching the provari for a more modern mod, then those button-top batteries you use with the Provari will be obsolete as 95% of the mods on the market only accept flat-top batteries.

To each her own, I guess.

There are so many mods out, that would be a task and a half lol. However, I will say that if you want a tube mod (like the Provari) your options will be very limited in a regulated mod. On the other hand, if you are OK with a "box" style, your options will be many and varied, to say the least.

One alternative to a tube mod would be the Joyetech Elitar Pipe mod (LOVE IT). Before you say "I don't want a pipe", hear me out....

You don't have to hold it like a pipe. In fact, it's more comfortable to hold it more like a tube mod by holding the "bowl" in your fist (sort of how tube mech mod users hold their mod, except much more comfortable since the fire button isn't at the bottom). That's how I vape it most of the time anymore. Bowl in hand, press button with thumb...or turn around and press button with index finger. There are many ways to hold it, though. Hold int it like a traditional pipe is actually the least comfortable way to use it LOL.

There are many places you can buy it, here's a start
http://vapespider.com/?s=elitar

The down side to the Elitar is that the stock tank is very small. I think it only holds 2ml of juice. However, it will fit any 22mm diameter tank with larger juice capacity, but will obviously be a lot longer, of course. Also, 2ml depending on the wattage you vape at and how much you vape. For me, it's kind of a hassle for an out-of-the-house mod. I vape it at 16W at 1 to 1.5 ohms and I chain vape. 2ml of 50/50 juice last me about 1 hour chain vaping.

As far as "box" style mods, I am currently loving the Eleaf Istick Pico 75W. I read that you prefer a nautilus mini. If that is the case, then just buy the mod, not the kit. Again, here are some offerings.
http://vapespider.com/?s=pico+75W+mod&cat1=115

BTW, you can use a nautilus mini on the elitar, but since the elitar is a 22mm mod, the nautilus mini won't fit edge to edge on the mod, but it will still work.

BTW: Both the elitar and Pico 75W take one 18650 flat-top battery.

But there are so many options these days, it's so hard to suggest something, especially for someone who is getting back into the game from even just 1.5-2 years ago. Things have changed a lot and, like I said, your options are limited if you want a tube-shaped mod like the Provari (as far as I know).

As far as the tank is concerned, since you were so comfortable with the nautilus mini, I would definitely go ahead and buy one if I were you and start back up with that. You can try other tanks later once you get back into vaping if you want to.

Or something like a Joyetech eVic VTwo:

https://www.myvaporstore.com/Joye-eVic-VTwo-Mini-Starter-Kit-p/joye-vtn20.htm

That's a solid metal body device and in this kit comes with a Cubis atty. ($53.95 at MVS is a pretty good price too.) Uses a single 18650 battery - not included. It weighs about the same as a full size Provari. It's a good intro kit to the more advanced stuff in the market today. At 75 watts (the Provari is a 15 watt device) it gives you enough power to begin exploring different options for attys.

It can also charge the battery via USB cable (and do it right - not all of them do) and be used as a passthrough device while charging. So you could just buy the VTwo kit and one or two batteries even and skip the charger on a short term basis.

Note: When you get into things like the Cubis atty they are much more efficient - producing a ton of vapor - compared to what you were using. More vapor = taking in more nic. If you were formerly getting liquids in the 12 - 18 mg/ml range you would want to roll that waaay back to only 3 - 6 mg/ml with something like a Cubis.

And if you felt that something like the included Cubis was a bit too much for you just returning to vaping you could fall back to a lesser efficient thing like the Nautilus too.
