Questions.. On Nic and Sweeteners.. And menthol?

Hello all, I have some questions..

1)I am still new to DIY and have purchased the VapersTek 100MG/ML 1000ML bottle. It is still in packaging and all but I learned that I am suppose to separate the content into separate bottles..
A) What would your advice be on the size bottles I should package it into? And where would I get bottles good enough to store this stuff?
B) I am familiar with using the DIY E-juice calculators for PG/VG + Flavoring.. but not with the Nic yet.. Can someone suggest a good site to use for their calculator, and how I should input my NIC and how I want my juice to have? I usually vape with 3% nic.. How does that translate to mg/ml of Nic when I see it asking on the calculators? I'm just trying to get my facts straight before I accidentally OD on Nic or something.

2) Sweeteners.. From what I understand, DIY E-Juice is similar to cooking.. You have to balance out the flavors.. Is this something that is common in all DIY juices?
A) Does FA Extreme Ice or Koolada 10% count as a sweetener even though it is suppose to be minty?

I am ultimately chasing a berry/minty vape.. I feel like creams or something like that would not be something that I would want.

Thank you for your insight and time,

-Eric

All calculators should have a line to add nic. But here is a list of calculators anyway.

http://vapingunderground.com/threads/various-diy-calculators.126/

Put it in whatever bottles you want, but glass is best, colored(amber, blue, black etc) it's better. Keep it out of sunlight and away from heat. I keep mine in 120ml amber boston rounds and in the freezer. The bottle I use for mixing stays in a cloth bag to protect from uv light.

Not all sweeteners are the same, I Rarely use sweetener in my juice and it would have to be for a specific reason. And a lot of flavors have sweeteners added already. Koolada is more of just a chilling effect, not a sweetener. Go on a recipe site and search for berry mint recipes and go from there.

Thank you for your input!

Where do you purchase your bottles from?

Also, do you have any recommendations for some good recipe websites? I'm sure Google will work but I wanted sites that members frequent and trust.

Thank you!

Hi rueric.

1. (A) These are what I use for nic. http://packagingoptionsdirect.com/100-cc-round-amber-glass-packer This link is for bottles only, the appropriate caps will be listed,as a separate purchase, below the information for the bottles. Shake your nicotine really well before splitting it up.

(B) You will input your nicotine strength as 3mg, since you vape 3% nic. If you purchased your nic in PG, you will input that as 100% PG, The calculator will instruct you, every step of the way.

Here, you input the size of what you're mixing, the strength (3mg/ml in your case), if you're adding distilled water, or vodka, to thin it out, and the ratio of PG and VG that you prefer.
upload_2016-9-9_11-35-6.png upload_2016-9-9_11-37-7.png

In the pic on the right, you input the strength of the nic, per ml, that you purchased, 100mg/ml, in your case, then the base that it is in, PG, VG, or a combination of the 2, whichever yours is. This calculator is from eliquid recipes site. http://e-liquid-recipes.com/create. There are many options available online, some free on the site, others are a free download, such as ejuiceme up. ejuice.breaktru.com

2. Sweeteners. I don't use them, I think the flavorings are plenty sweet, as they are. Many people do use them, typically in very small doses. Some use them to enhance (to smooth out a mix), some use them for more sweetness, typically between 1-2%

(A) Menthols and Koolada... neither are used as a sweetener that I've heard. They offer that cool throat hit. Menthol does have a flavor all it's own, kooolada offers the cool "feel" on inhale. I, personally, would not use either at 10%, that's really high. Starting low, then adding to, if necessary is best with menthols, especially. Koolada, is typicaly 1-2 drops per ml. Koolada can also fade over time.

So... that's my take on your questions. I hope it's helpful to you! Good luck :)

You can buy amber and blue glass bottles from Amazon.

There are recipes on this forum, but HIC has a site for recipes too.

Amazon, a dozen glass bottles for around ten to fifteen bucks.
Here's one,
Boston Round Bottles, 2 Oz Pack of 12 W/Black Phenolic Cone Lined Caps https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005CQ6CBS/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_n0T0xbM0MNKRG

Our diy recipes section is good, e-liquid-recipes.com and alltheflavors. I recommend making an account, adding your flavors into the Flavor Stash and searching by that.

I'll add here, I agree 100% about being CAUTIOUS with menthol. My wife demands a lot of menthol in her juice, and it is REALLY strong at 7%. Stupid strong.

If I liked menthol, I'd start at 1% and go up from there. It will get too strong on you if you aren't careful.

I've also tried Koolada and my wife does not like it. She wants the menthol. I personally do not like ANY juice with Koolada or menthol.

Ditto. I have one recipe with inw natural mint at one drop per 10ml, and has other strong flavors to balance it. Any more and all I get is mint.

If you're looking for minty, there are some good mints out there.

FW Creme de Menthe
FW Candy Cane
FA Peppermint
FA Spearmint
TFA Mint Candy

Probably more, those are ones I've tried, and enjoyed.

Hey thank you everyone for your input!
I placed an order for some Amber bottles off Amazon.. Should I wash/boil them in any way before I start putting the NIC in there?

I would at least rinse them out with hot water.

@freemind, out of curiosity, what menthol does your wife use? I'm looking for a taste to imitate a Kool or even a Newport. Thanks.

Michael
I don't know what you mean by "what menthol". Menthol is menthol. I dilute crystals, rather than buying it already diluted.

Her juice mix is FE Turkish and menthol. Pretty simple. The FE turkish is a chocolate/caramel type tobacco.
