OK so ive been really considering getting a mod with this okl 120w board
like a hexohm v2
or a dimebox mod etc
everywhere i read says .3 ohm is the lowest you should go
and that has me confuzzled
using ohms law
.3 ohms at 6v give syou 20 amps
ok
so if you go lower then .3 ohms and fire the device at the full 6vs your going to pull over 20 amps and that is BAD BAD BAD
BUT these mods have a potentiometer to control the voltage
so say i use my standard SS build which is at .14 ohms
and i usually use that in a regulated mod at 50ws
using ohms law
you get 2.65v at 18.9 amps
so since the okl board only can fire down to 3.6V
using ohms law
a .14 ohm build is going to draw 25.71 amps at its lowest setting
Once again VERY VERY BAD
SO back to ohms law
using 3.6V and 20 amps
you get a .18ohm coil at 72W
So HERES MY QUESTONS
1.IF you keep the Voltage output on the okl board at 3.6V can you safely run a .18ohm coil on it? Or is there something Im not understanding about these boards?
AND
2. All these calculations are based off a 20amp battery such as a LG HG2 or samsung 25r..WHat if you were to use a 30amp continuous discharge battery such as the LG HB2 or HB6 Could you then run lower then .3 safely because once again using ohms law 3.6v, 30 amps 108w and .12ohms so that looks OK
But at 6v that same coil will draw 50 amps and be at 300w Which is very very very very bad bad bad.
SO can using 30 amp batteries allow for lower builds provided you dont raise the voltage too high.
