So some new flavors arrived today and I was anxious to start experimenting. First of all, I've been doing diy for about 8 months off and on, reading reading and reading trying to soak up every bit of info I can. After a quick mix and shake and vape I have a few questions.

Question 1. One of the flavors melted the markings off my 1ml syringe. Any ideas of the culprit? I'm suspecting cinnamon. I used FA fuji apple; tfa brown sugar; capella cinnamon danish swirl; fa condensed milk and fa apple pie.

Question 2. I usually mix smaller (20-30ml) batches until I come up or perfect something I really like. I'm not worried about consistency since I use the same type of syringes, but have been seriously considering a scale for less mess and better accuracy in small mixes. Even with a 1 ml syringe some small percentages are really hard to get when it's .15 ml etc. Thoughts?

I'll have to read more on the fuji apple. It's delicious, but I was going for a more apple pie/hint of cinnamon taste and at only 2% that fuji really comes through strong. Maybe it mellows as it steeps? Definitely open to suggestions. So far I'm really liking this as a shake and vape, but it's not quite what I was going for. BTW; it was

Fuji apple 2% (fa)
brown sugar 1% (tfa)
cinnamon danish swirl 2% (cap)
condensed milk .5% (fa)
apple pie .5% (fa)

was hoping the fa apple pie and cinnamon danish swirl would make a good "crust" flavor. Really wanted fa cookie, but of course it was out of stock last order. Haven't tried that one yet.

scales WITH A PLASTIC FUNNEL ARE way less mess AND EASIER.

I like fuji at 3% but thats me
i would suggest 1% apple pie 1 fuji

all juices will eventually wear those marks off.
your nic can as well

I know the marks eventually wear off, but this was instantly as in you could almost watch the marks melt off. I take it you use a scale? If so, any suggestions on a good one?

I"m thinking it might've been the apple. You can put clear tape around your syringes to avoid that. Easy fix. As Matt suggested, those marks wear off EASILY.

Thoughts?
Mixing by weight is wonderful! This is the one I use. It's small, measures accurately (though I care about consistency). Yes, Fuji is strong, for sure. FA Apple Pie really is a good crust flavor by itself. If you wanted a touch of cinnamon flavor to it, maybe try a little less of the cinnamon danish, or if you have FA Cinnamon Ceylon, give that a try at 0.25 or 0.5%. Not everyone does, but I get a hint of cinnamon from the Apple Pie flavoring by itself. The apple is very light and is easy to cover if making other pie flavors.

Not sure what's up with link not working. It's not loading correctly, either. You can copy that to the amazon browser, though.

No link, but after doing a search on here for "best scale" the lb501 from amazon seems to be a pretty popular one with good reviews. I've looked at them before and this seems to be the one that comes up frequently. Love amazon prime :)

I have the LB 501 scale and it is great. Last time I checked the price has gone up, I just checked though and it is back down to about $26 which is what I paid. I have seen it as high as $38 on amazon though so if you get it then now would be a good time.

I love Fuji but 2% is pretty high, even at 1% it will dominate most flavors.

this was my first scale
LOVED IT
but it just died after 2 months of use. Butt most people seem to think its a fluke. the price fluctuates wildly on this. If i wanted a scale now Id buy this one for 26 ish, when I needed to replace mine it was $40ish

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005UGBG20?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

the one I have is OKISH
it gets the job done, but it quirky. the reading will go up if you let something sit on it for a few minutes
but for 17ish it gets the job done

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QFCG5ZQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00

whatever yo get
make sure it reads grams to .01 not .1 you need .01 accuracy

unless you have lots of money, then get one with .001 accuracy lol

I agree, it's a pretty good price right now. Probably going to pull the trigger. I'm letting the apple steep. I must say the fuji apple is really good, but do agree I'll probably drop it to 1% next time. Really good, but it does dominate.

Got the scale today :) I went with the lb-501 off amazon. Seems really good. Great price, a/c power and it came with calibration weights. Can't wait for my next day off to start really mixing.

Of course I couldn't wait and had to try something. Since it's fall I decided to try and come up with an apple butter vape. It may be horrible or it might be good. Really really loving FA fuji apple. It's steeping now. What a difference having a scale is. It took a little bit to find out the find out the weights of everything (just went with 1 on the flavors) and convert. But no mess, no syringes to clean, no having to get the little dropper lids off the flavor bottles.....fantastic!!

Here is a great thread on mixing by weight: http://www.vapingunderground.com/threads/guide-to-mixing-by-weight.22891/

One thing with the LB-501 is the lid that covers it when not in use can be detached so it doesn't lean against the surface and potentially taking the scale off balance. I just lay the cover back over when not in use and then place it to the side when I am ready to use, no need to have it attached all the time.

That's great to hear you happy with it, have fun!
