Quick "bulk" mixing method -- try it you'll like it

In the category of "doh!" why haven't I been doing this all along, I started mixing large quantities of bulk unflavored base and then add my flavors per bottle. Saves a ton of time on "need more" day.

I sure you experts out there already do this but never seen it really posted before so here's how I do it:

My typical recipie is 70% VG, 10% distilled water, 3% 100mg nicotine, usually around 3% to 7% flavor and the rest PG. For bulk base, I mix up a half liter of the recipie but leaving out (and leaving "room") for 5% flavor.

To make a bottle of eliquid on demand I measure the desired flavor directly into a 30ml or 60ml bottle and then just fill the rest of the bottle from the bulk base. Done.

Within my range of 3% to 7% flavor, the resulting mix is always "close enough" using the bulk base which is made "missing" 5% flavor. Folks who typically use higher flavor percentages could just "leave out" more in the bulk base so it's ready to mix with higher flavor percentages.

Anyway, what do you think? Anyone else do it this way?

Yep, that's pretty much the way I do most of my mixing. The only time I don't use my base mix is when I'm mixing larger volumes of juice.

There is mention of this method in the diy section but it may not be a topic unto itself.

It's a great time saver!

And since I use such tiny amounts of flavoring no more 1.5% I do make a good sized bottle of nic base too.:) I do not mind going high on the PG portion. :D

The only time I don't do this is when I'm working on developing a recipe. Otherwise, I use the amounts of flavors called for by the recipe and then just add unflavored juice to it. The result is usually somewhere in the 4.7mg range but if anyone asks I usually say 6 because it is easier to say that than to get into detailed mathematics.

If you often mix the same recipes, you can take it one step further. Make bottles of premixed flavorings (just the flavorings) for your favorite recipes. On mixing day, grab a new bottle, add some of your premixed flavoring, top it with base. It's so fast, you don't have to wait for mixing day, just make it when you need it.

I always use a nic base and have one juice I always make. Instead of making 120 MLS at a time I should do the premix bottle then I can make smaller bottles more often. Thanks for the idea.
