Can somebody tell me the dimensions of Cotton Bacon please? Thanks in advance for your help.

Well it's not a pad if that's what your thinking. It's long strings of cotton fibers. I know some ppl love it but I've gotten one bag myself and would never get it again. I find it hard to gauge how much wick I'm getting and I find it inconsistent for wicking some RBAs that really require exact amounts of cotton

I use both Cotton Bacon and pads. I find pads are easier to do Scottish Rolls with, but Cotton Bacon is pretty easy to use.

Yeah, I know it's strips. I've got a big roll of surgical cotton that I want to precut some strips about the same size as cotton bacon and have them in a baggie so when I need to re-wick, I can just grab a piece of cotton and get after it.

I only have one hand to work with so I need help with almost everything. I do most of my vaping related activities late at night when the grandchildren are asleep. My wife usually goes to bed before I do as well. I don't EVEN want to have to wake her up to cut a strip of cotton because I've mixed up some shit juice or was too busy reading VU or watching tv to check my juice level and burned the wick.

Can I get an Amen? :D

Sreiously though, I just mainly need to know about how wide to cut my strips. All my coils are 3mm.

I just figured if I had her cut it about the same size as cotton bacon, it would suffice.

Thanks @Paratech

If I precut my strips around 5-6mm wide I should be good to go, then?
Not certain.
I've never tried to wick one handed but if I were to, more than likely I'd either try using one of the following:
READYxWICK from https://vapepour.com
Unicorn Hair from https://www.vapordna.com
I haven't tested the READYxWICK but have some on order to find out.
The Unicorn Hair is precut/sized and has a plastic sleeve on one end like a shoe string.
More than likely that'd be the absolute easiest.
I only tested 3 of them and compared to cotton bacon it seemed a little less flavorful but if compared to how easy it would be to do, odds are it may be well worth it.
Not counting in price, just ease of application.

I watched the video on the readyxwick site and I like that you're supposed to be able to burn the wick with a little torch and clean it. If that's really the case, a foot of it would last me for years. :)

Regarding the cotton, I'll figure it out. I took some junk cotton a while back and messed around with it. I can roll it into a round with one hand, and have enough use of my left hand to hold it so I can make a point to start through the coil. If I can get it far enough to hang there, I'll be able to pull it the rest of the way with tweezers I think. I've had to make a lot of adjustments over the last 5 years and leearn new ways of doing things. This is merely a hill I've got to climb. If I can't go over, I'll go around! ;)

I tried cotton balls but that's more of a chore than I want to mess with. There are too many easier options available. I'll figure out what works for me, I was mainly just looking for a starting point. :)

kudos for not giving up.
I've never used the roll of surgical cotton so I'm not certain how it plays out but I'm sure there are plenty of members on here that do or have use it that may be able to provide tips or advise.

All i use is cotton bacon v2 and i love it. I use to use pads but once i started using cotton bacon i never went back. It was a learning curve but i got use to it. I like to cut my cotton bacon strips in half so there shorter and that way i can wick both coils with one piece. The break in and flavor is far superior to pads imho. I also bought some of the cotton candy collection that comes in the round white canisters, havent got around to using it but it looks and feels like cotton bacon.

I wanted to get the cotton bacon when I ordered my tool kit but every place that had the kit at a decent price was either out of or didn't carry it. I had seen a post on another thread that commented the surgical cotton from CVS was the same thing as Japanese cotton after it was cut into pads. I figured for 5 bucks I'd give it a try. If it don't work, I've got plenty of bandaging material for the grandkid's skinned knees and sundry other boo boos. :) If it does work, then I've got a year's worth of wicks. :D

I don't think Japanese organic cotton pads and surgical are the same thing. Most surgical cotton is bleached, organic isn't. It will probably work though. Some have suggested that's what cotton bacon is, bits of surgical cotton. No idea how accurate that is or if it's just speculation. I like Japanese organic, it's convenient enough for me. My next choice would probably be rolls like you mentioned. Some use cotton balls but not sure how that works with the strands of cotton going every which way. Cotton rolls have a bias (strands mostly in one direction) as do cotton pads. When you pull on a pad one direction it doesn't move and it's tight, pull it from the other sides and it fluffs apart along the directional strands. Cotton balls just seem willy nilly. I'd think it would affect the capillary action of the wicking.
