Stage 1 - it is gunned up and doesn't taste right - this coil is about a month old wick is about a week old.

Stage 2 - removed the cotton

Stage 3 - remove surface goo with a wire brush you can see some goo on the deck

Stage 4 - dry burns

A loupe - very cheap way to take macro pictures, just hold it on you phone

I pull my wicks, defuzz. Fire to glowing, release, dip coils in water. Repeat till nice, rewick. Ez Pz. Those were some pretty nasty coils, wicks!

Yeah I let em get nasty on purpose, we rarely see gunked up stuff shown on forums but we all get them occasionally (often - depending on juice) thought it good that the newcomers see that shit so they know it is not unusual :D
