So, I seem to have burned a relatively new Crown .5 coil and before I threw it away decided to give laundering it a chance. Figured I had nothing to lose.
I placed the burned coil in a small dish of cool water and let the faucet run a little bit into the dish for about ten minutes. I blew the coil out and set the coil to dry. After a full dry, here in Nevada a full day, primed the coil and loaded it into the tank again and lo and behold the coil works without the burned taste. Apparently there may be enough cotton in these coils to wash them like your cotton clothing
. Of course, YMMV.
