Reuleaux RX200 TC question

Greetings, first post, long time lurker.
I just took delivery of said RX200, it is my second TC device, the first is the iJoy Asolo 200w unit, it works great
but I wanted something that would possibly allow me to use nickel in my Golaith and Cthulhu without having to use half a spool of wire...

Ok, I got 2 10 wrap .072 I.D. spaced coils with 30AWG for .09 Ω, and locked, it's working good, set TC mode to NI, set temp to 500°F, and watts to 35, when I take a drag the temp will climb to 499°F, then flash temp protection, then show like 496°F.

My question, is this normal?? I have searched around the web for info but cant find anything, let it be known, I suck so bad at using google, you dont even know.....heh
The Asolo didnt have a lock, I used Titanium in there, and never had the flashy balloon go....

Thanks in advance....;)

That's normal. It's the way TC works. The temp protect isn't a warning. It's just letting you know you've reached your set temp and the unit is varying power to keep you there.

Greetings, Grats on your first post! I suspect you have not set the wattage on the TC. 3 clicks until you are in TC Ti mode, then 4 clicks will bring up the wattage for TC. The default new is 200 watts. Try lowering the watts in TC.

The op said in his first post he set the temp to 500f and watts to 35. Seems like normal operation to me. When my TC mods reach the temp I set, temp protect flashes to let you know you have arrived at your destination. ;)

Thanks for the replies, when I first started to use it it was at 200, I did change to to 35, was a little surprised it defaulted to 200...
After I posted this I watched what looks like a thermometer on the Asolo, it gets to the top and bounces there, I never noticed that before, perhaps that's the same thing.....

Thanks for the help, loving this thing so far...

I know, but I blew the coils out of my Goliath the first time I tried the RX in TC mode, because I assumed that the RX took its watts from watts mode. There is a seperate setting in the RX for watts when you are in TC mode.

I'm not the only one to make that mistake on this mod, I just wanted to be sure the 35 watts he set was in TC.
