Well, I bricked my Rx today. I've dropped it, kicked it, and pretty much abused it in every way possible. I thought it was indestructible, but it doesn't like water. Who knew.?!?
I slipped it in the pocket of my rain jacket at work today. Rain managed to get in the pocket, and the best I can tell, even though the mod was switched off, it fired from the off positon. It burned up the coil on my crown tank, and eventually fried the chip. It doesn't like the rain anymore than I do.

Ah dude that sucks! :(

I guess the upside is they are pretty inexpensive and thus easy to replace. Sucks nonetheless. I hope you have a backup mod to get you through. I hear vapenw.com calling your name...

I hear people using a silicon sleeve on their RX200 mods for protection.. Wonder if it would repel water too..

It couldn't hurt. I was in a straight up downpour for a couple of hours, so this one is on me. I don't think anything would've saved it today.

Sounds to me like OtterBox needs to step up and get into the vaping accessories game!

Don't mean to jack this thread but I can't find the search button for vapingunderground through my iphone and don't have access to a comp right now.

Can someone hook me up with some instructions to use temp control for kanthal.

Much appreciated

Kanthal isn't really a TC wire. It's TCR is too small to work in all but one mod that claims to do it. TC wire is Ni200, Ti1, SS, and Nife52. What mod are you using?

Cheers,
Steve

Edit Here's a chart illustrating what I'm talking about:

You will only be able to use Kanthal in normal power mode. I edited my above post with a chart illustrating what I was talking about in regards to TCR's.

The problem with using Kanthal for TC is it's resistance doesn't really change as it heats up (that's what the TCR number refers to). TC mods calculate the temperature by a change in resistance as the wire heats up. The larger the TCR, the larger the resistance change is.

Thanks. I saw someone running temp control for kanthal using the ohm wrecker. Any idea about that?
That was the mod I was referring too. I don't have one and have my doubts about how well it will really be able to do it because of the reasons listed in my above posts.
