With one dead and two more seriously injured, Riverdale's masked attacker finally revealed himself in "Chapter 16: The Watcher in the Woods" -- and the mystery only got deeper. The Black Hood, a nod to an Archie Comics character that first debuted in 1940, is disposing of those he feels have sinned. When it comes to Riverdale, that could be practically anybody.
While that motivation could easily be a cover for something else, it's refreshing to see the series move from the deeply personal hunt for Jason Blossom's (Trevor Stines) killer in Season 1 to a villain that is seemingly a stranger. It helps with the feeling that nobody in town is safe. While in the first season, you wouldn't have expected characters like Moose (Cody Kearsley) or Ethel (Shannon Purser) to be potential targets, everyone is fair game when it comes to the Black Hood.
