For those of you waiting to preorder the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards starting January 30, there's a way to secure one of these GPUs right now. Adorama has already listed several pre-built gaming desktop PCs equipped with RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs, and most importantly, you can pre-order them right now. If you're looking for a complete system, then this is a rare opportunity to secure a GPU that will most likely be in very high demand. Adorama lists a February 11 ship date, but I would take that estimate with a grain of salt.

The Nvidia 50 series GPUs were officially announced at CES 2025. The emphasis for this round of cards has been on the new and improved AI features over hardware based raster performance. The new DLSS 4 technology supposedly quadruples the number of frames with minimal visual compromise. Although these new GPUs do offer superior performance, we have mixed opinions on their value for PC gamers relative to the RTX 40 series cards.

The RTX 5090 will become Nvidia's newest and most powerful flagship card, replacing the RTX 4090 in the stack. The prices on these pre-built desktops are considerably higher than an equivalent RTX 4090 gaming PC, which would run about $3,500 to $4,000 when not on sale. The higher price tag isn't surprising, however, if you consider the fact that the standalone RTX 5090 will retail for $400 more than the RTX 4090.

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jacqueline Thomas wrote that "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. When it comes to traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 provides one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to make your peace with the fact that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."

The RTX 5080 will be Nvidia's second most powerful GPU in the lineup. We haven't yet finished our review of this GPU, but based on Nvidia's price point and spec sheet, I expect performance to be somewhere in between the current model RTX 4080 / 4080 Super GPU and the 4090. This GPU boasts 10,752 CUDA cores, roughly 10% more than the RTX 4080, and the new GDDR7 memory. Prices start at about $2,300, which is actually very reasonable considering the fact that a gaming PC equipped with an RTX 4080 Super usually runs about the same price or higher.
