hey guys

I've build an dual parallels 24 gauge 5 wraps. 0.09 ohms and my mod does not fire. I get the message "low atomizer" can't I use this build ?

Built with what.
Temp control is what you seek, unless it is a small inner diameter not seeing how this is possible.

Inner diameter is 3 mm kanthal wire. Thx for the quick reply mate, I really appreciate it.

Google "RXS specifications" to verify, but I think the RX's lower limits are 0.05 in TC and 0.1 in Power Mode.

You're just a hair over the line. :(

Yup. Rx will only fire down to .1 in power mode and .05 in tc. The kanthal wire will not work in tc mode so you are out of luck. Out of curiosity, why did you make it a parallel build?

Darn, i just wanted to try a parallel build lol; no specific reason :-(

If you've got a drill... or a heavy coffee cup... twist some up.
Should be slightly better flavor, and higher res because of the twists.

Even just redoing it with a slightly larger ID would make the difference.

What's the atty you're using?
Can you just snip off one coil and run it single?

You wont be bangin' it with 150 watts, but parallel 24g should still be impressive.

for this-one i was using cloudchasers archeon. but i have an mutation xv4s. i will do a single then :)

So I did a single 24 g reads out.2 ohms. Has a nice vape to it. I was wondering I tend to how thinner the wire the lower the watts. I'm not reading as much about this all because I rather experience things while doing them, and of course ask for help here. Hope you guys don't mind:)

Kind regards Kenneth.

Hmm strange, when pinching the coils together I went from 0.2 to 0.08??? How is this possible?

Hmm went back up to 2ohms lol. 26!gauge. How many wraps?

This is how I wicked it.

First thing... before you tighten down the post screws, keep the mandrel/rod/screwdriver you rolled the coil on inserted and gently bend/shift the coil toward the center position.

Each should be nearly centered and squared up.
Height is up to you... it depends on the design of the atomizer and where the airflow is coming from, how it hits the coil. Play with the possibilities.

To get neater lightly spaced coils... just after rolling (roll an extra wrap or two), gently tug and using your nails separate each wrap and lightly stretch the coil out evenly. Then compress it back together. Have to press a few times. Then using pliers pull a bit of the coil out from each end while angling into the coil compressing it. Flip the coil around so you have the handle of the driver to press against. This will remove those extra wraps. ;)
Do it right and they'll be evenly spaced.

For touching or "contact" coils... you should wrap them tightly to begin with. Pulsing and glowing while squeezing with tweezers will get it to heat evenly (watch the YouTubes) but it won't easily eliminate spacing (for me at least).

When you have the coils mounted properly... wicking an RDA is usually straightforward and fairly easy. Some RDAs have their own preferences though. A little can be enough... some like a bed of wicking. Or anything in-between. Easy enough to redo and experiment.

:)

Hey Jim, thank you for the tips it's greatly appreciated. I will redo it again tomorrow.

Thx
Kind regards.

Yeah sorry... I got on a roll there and just started throwing in more things.
Post kinda got away from me. :p

But it's all good basic info, and of course nothing is set in stone... so when you find a better way, use it.

The coil calculator at Steam-Engine is one of the better ones (all of them actually).
You can get a quick familiarity with the resistance changes when you alter any number of aspects of your coil.

yeah i have tried the steam engine but i don't fully understand how to use it. for example what do they mean by "leg length"

The distance from the last of the coil wrap to where it's trapped by the post screw.
I just leave the default of 5mm (I think that's the default).

We're not doin' rocket surgery here... no need for high precision.

hmmm i still don't understand Jim i did the following:

kanthal A1 APM (dunno what APN means)
round
24 gauge awg (merican wire, i'm from europe so dunno if that is correct)
0.511mm (by default when choosing 24 gauge)
dual coil setup
1ohm target res.
diameter 3mm
leg lenght 5mm by default

and the result states that i have to do 21.94 wraps ?!? i dunno bout your deck but mine isn't suited for that lol :)

You're calculating a dual using fat (low res) 24g... shooting for 1.0 ohm.
That's a lot of wraps per coil.

Did you mean 0.1 ? :p

I'm not sure that you're inputting the correct parameters....

kanthal A1 APM (dunno what APN means)
round
24 gauge awg (merican wire, i'm from europe so dunno if that is correct)
0.511mm (by default when choosing 24 gauge)

Will give you :

If you ACTUALLY mean .1 ohm, then.....

upload_2016-7-12_13-49-31.png

You're talking less than 2 wraps per coil.... I gotta ask, what's the attraction to get to the minimum your mod will fire at? It would be easier(more wraps) to go with SS316L, and you can still use power/wattage mode.
