Ok so.I'm getting started on an RY4 and thought it would be good to post how I'm going about it so newer mixers can maybe see how one.person goes about it, and also so I can get suggestions and input as well, because everybody has a bunch of RY4 in their book.I'm.starting with RY4D from tfa at 6% as a base. To that I've added the following to make several samples. I'm looking to get two out of this one sweet and mapley like a CARNY4 from G2 and another vanilla forward like neckbeard nectar, so I'm looking th see how things combine first, and pick out which of which is gonna do the trick
SAMPLES 6% ry4d with

(1) 2% fa maple
(2) 3% tfa maple syrup
(3) 2% fa Vienna cream
(4) 4% Cap simply vanilla
(5) 3% Cap creamy caramel
(6) 3% tfa Carmel original

I will sample these, see if I am happy with any of them, and make any adjustments to each additional.flavor before adding another flavor. For example, currently I'm working on the maple element, and think fa.Will.do fine. However, 6% ry4d is too strong for me with this, so I may have to drop that, make sure the maple plays well, then start testing the vanilla element. Also, I may order some maxx blend to try instead of the ry4d. RocketPuppy have me some suggestions for finishing type ingredients, but that's for later. I would LOVE to hear any suggestions at all for each of these elements, as this is just getting started for me, and will be a bit of a project. I've got other opinion for each of these elements, so let me hear what you all think, in the meantime, I'm gonna keep plugging away.
Currently vaping 5% ry4d with 1.5% fa maple, and this is ALMOST what I'm looking for in this part of the equation. Thanks for any input, I really am looking forward to hearing suggestions. I've got a.GREAT name in mind for.this too!

I am very interested in what you come up with.

(if you want a second opinion, I am available and happy to taste test)

:)

I'm not sure what you have there is gonna hit the sweet mark with out a bit of ethyl maltol. It will really bring that caramel/vanilla/maple blend forward.

I feel what your saying Jaaxx. At some point I may need to hit it with some ta also for a.more.deep.and realistic baccy note. Meringue is another option for the sweetness, or even some 7 leaves. Wouldn't be surprised if some brown sugar extra ends up in there too. I'm.a fucking dummy, so I've got to nail down which flavors I'm gonna get in there in approximately somewhat correct percentages, then I can get my head around some additions that will finish it all off.

I've been trying to re-create the original Ruyan 4 for quite a while. I still have a 1/3 litre of it socked away in the freezer. It's very sweet.

Would you say it's more caramel or vanilla? I've also gotta imagine that they use HS flavors for something close to the original, no?

Def caramel but the vanilla is up front with the tobacco being an afterthought really. Hangsen doesn't do it and neither does Dekang. The original is unique. Closest I've come is with some very high concentrations of EM (5-8%) but that is not good for coils! It is very dark straight from the factory. Obviously mine is much darker due to age, but it was very dark for eliquids of the day.

So I'm vaping 8% ry4d with 4% caps simply vanilla, and let me tell you it's pretty darn close to nectar just as it is! Steeped for 10 days, 50/50 mix. I realize.that the real thing would probably be far more complicated, but this simple mix is really really close. A nice.very smooth vanilla bacco with just a touch of bite to it. A few.more days steep, maybe a small tweek or two, and this is very nice. Also been trying 8% ry4d with 2% fa Vienna, and that's just not what I'm looking for. Has artificial vanilla taste to me with the ry4d. Tomm I'm gonna get.on 6% ry4d with tfa vanilla bourbon, and fa vanilla Tahiti, but I'm loving the caps simply vanilla here I think.

I'm pretty sure the caps simply vanilla has some sweetener of some kind in it. May explain the difference from the others. I usually like to start with strong, but unsweet flavors, steep, and then bring it up with sweetener over heat. I use ethyl maltol, sucralose or maltitol.

When I'm done Odian, Ill get you on the guest list. And I think you are correct, Jaaxx, I find.most caps stuff to be sweeter than their counterparts. Which is part of the thing I like, you know they are and I like sweet anyway.
So I tried 6% ry4d with 2% tfa vanilla bourbon, and just not what I personally am.looking for here. On a good front, I vaped through 6 ml of he version with caps simply vanilla today, and.totally slamming! Great to me as is, a little ta will really add to it, so I'm gonna stick.with that for the final version. Also, I learned that sometimes simple is best, and it's good to go in steps because you never know what you'll get along the way. This would also be great with some toasted something, so ill be doing that in the future. If you got the caps simply vanilla, throw some at some ry4d, you'll be glad you did. Gonna try fa vanilla Tahiti too but i think I'm on to caramels tomm.

So to me personally, the vanilla Tahiti just didn't fit the bill at 1.5%, but would have been my second choice. I really really like the caps here. So now I'm getting on some Ry4d @7% with some caps creamy caramel at 2.5% and then some with 1%fa caramel also.with tfa caramel original and gonna try the caramel candy also. I think.the fa maple Will go well with theatre caramel candy, just hope the caps vanilla doesn't make it too sweet Time will tell.

So to update as I get ready to get snowed in for a couple days. Decided on the caps creamy caramel here. Works.for me on a sweetness level, and I'm really starting to dig caps flavors the more I mess with them. Minnetonka make up 50 ml of ry4d base at 6 and 8% because more I think would be over for what I'm looking for, and I'm gonna make a few maple heavy versions, maybe like 1-2% fa maple with caramel and vanilla backgrounds and a few caramel heavy versions , maybe some with some toffee like jaaxx suggested, and just gotta let them all sit for a few weeks. The caps is sweet enough so I don't think ill need any em here, but maybe some ta will deepen the bacco notes. I will be sure to post in the recipe section what I come up with so vapecrafter can swipe it to sell on their site.

I ordered the TFA tobacco sample pack and have found some great blends.

RY4D seems to be a great base, but sorely lacking in many tobacco notes. never added any EM, but did add ACV into vaping bottles and not my bulk steep. Difficult to use by itself if using max VG. (as this increases sweetness and lowers flavour)

TFA Western seems to add those missing notes amazingly well. Haven't played with AP, as I'm unsure whether I want to buy it yet

TFA Turkish can add another element in very small quantities, but can come off far too floral

TFA Black Honey can add that sweetness and is a very powerful nice honey flavour. I don't relate this to tobacco flavour tho ... lol

TFA Mild Black - I read a closed 11 page VU thread about this. It is quite amazing, but requires immense steeping time.

TFA Cubano - one sniff and I sent it to drawer exile

Think my fav so far: (these are premixed around 7% flav, 12mg nic and I just mix the bulk into a 10ml daily dropper)

40% RY4D
30% Westerm
20% Mild Black
5% Turk
5% Black Honey
ACV

I've got quite a few steeping now, so next weekend is gonna be tasting mod and hopefullybdone with this. Also working on one or two others that hopefully will be able to post in the next few days. Try TE cuban, it's. The best IMHO.
