re: the peat etc... reading some of the whisky boards last week, some agree it's advantageous to sit with your dram and just smell it, neat... for an extended amount of time.
The aromas will change and you'll become accustomed to them, especially ones you don't initially appreciate or even like.
I hope so... haven't had the shit in 40 years, but I'm game to try again.

Good? I dunno. CHEAP it wasn't. It IS growing on me. If I can draw a parallel to learning to drive, I put a significantly larger dent in it today, than yesterday. I THINK that means I'm gaining experience.. Agreed. Yesterday, I put a cube in it as advised, but I drink my bourbon neat. Today, I'm liking the scotch QUITE a bit more neat than yesterdays melt version.

Liquor should always be room temp. The only thing that's good chilled is white wine or gin -- or vodka I guess; I never was a vodka drinker, except for white russians. And some liquor should be served in those balloon snifters so you can warm it a little more with your hand. Now that we don't smoke, we should all have nice warm hands.
