At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, FOX announced the renewals of both Scream Queens for Season 2 and Empire for Season 3.
The renewal for Empire is no surprise, as the show remains a big hit, but Scream Queens was more of a question mark, as it struggled in the ratings – though FOX has noted the show’s stronger performance when DVR viewership is factored in and its notable social media engagement.
Scream Queens: Season 2 will be set in a hospital “where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation.” FOX notes that casting will be announced at a later date, but FOX executives Dana Walden and Gary Newman said it's likely some of the Season 1 cast will be back, playing the same characters.
