Hey guys I'm not really a newbie but I just switched from a smok gx350 (no probs just wanted something I can carry easier) to a smok gpriv 220w mod and I use a tfv12 cloud beast king with it. No matter which coil I use, either the v12 or the Q4, if I put the mod above 150ish, even with barely used and fully charged batteries, it says weak battery. This becomes frustrating because I can barely run the V12 coil. Is this a wiring issue or how can I get this fixed?
No, not a wiring issue, it is a battery configuration issue in combination with that ghastly piece of crap TFV12. 220Watts on a dual battery mod is just not attainable, it is false advertising, with 20amp CDR batteries you cap out at 60watts per battery, dual battery that is 120watts, 25amp CDR batteries they can go to 75watts per battery (150watts in a dual battery mod), 30amp CDR batteries it is 90watts per battery (dual battery it comes out to be 180watts max). Quit buying into Smok's over-hyped over-specced devices, over advertised dangerous toys.
And be suspect of any battery with an Amp Limit of over 30amps on its label, as there is no such thing as a 35 or 40amp 18650, they are re-labelled bought up B and C Bin discards LG, Samsung, Sony, and Panasonic/Sanyo said didn't pass muster and wouldn't get the manufacturer's name and seal of approval to be sold as an authentic A Bin, majority are 20amp batteries anyway.
Simple formula to figure out your problem
Watts Set/Lowest Battery Charge Level/90% Control Board Efficiency = Maximum Amps Needed
Smok is a bad offender here, as most current mods discharge to 3.0 to 3.2v per battery lowest, Smok's Alien 220W which the Gpriv uses the Alien Control Board goes down to 2.8v per battery, X2 that gives us 5.6v lowest, and knowing your watts setting of about 150watts...
150watts/5.6v/90%=29.7619amps will be needed <- Mod is detecting the batteries don't have the oomph to push that, when under load they are dropping below the needed amps, and only 3 batteries will handle this load adequately, LG HB2, HB4, and HB6 1500mah, true 30amp CDR, as stated nothing has a higher CDR amp limit than these 3 batteries.
