Freeloaders. 13 is old enough to get a job.
In the good old days they would be working in a mine at that age.

I worked putting up hay, corn, etc at 13 and at 15 I was a part time butcher.
Worked around 40 hours a week putting myself thru tech school after HS.

Walked 4 miles to school uphill both ways, etc...
LOL

The last is false but all other is true.

I did go to a 1 room school for my first 4 years though.
Pot bellied stove outhouses, etc..

I bagged groceries at 9 for a dollar an hour. Try telling that to a kid nowadays...

I forgot when I turned 12 I got a raise to minimum which was 2.15 then....

I traded a shiny for a not at all shiny. Does that mean I owe myself one? Makes one wonder...

I believe your Shiny barometer has been reduced, therefore a replenishment is in order.

ba·rom·e·ter
/bəˈrämədər/
noun
  1. an instrument measuring atmospheric pressure, used especially in forecasting the weather and determining altitude.
    • something which reflects changes in circumstances or opinions.

Oops, typo. Altitude should be ATTITUDE, eh?

I love it, balance, symmetry, proper spacing, proper order. I can relate but alas, I do not have such a space.

OCPD is basically a neat freak, lol
Believe me I am not full blown.
Mine is more in the area of being prepared and not being late. Things like that.
Employers love those traits.
But as I get older being a bit organized is a big plus or I could never find anything :gaah:

One of my daughter's has real, true bonafide, diagnosed OCD, so I know the difference, lol

They say the line gets crossed between just being very neat and having OCPD if the compulsion becomes disruptive to your life (anxiety, can't sleep) if you leave a mess or something

Same with OCD, though they are very different problems

Mine creates anxiety with the Wife unit and SIL.
Neither one can EVER be on time.

And both are extreme clutterbugs and think it is a sin to have a bare tabletop or chair.
And seem to like things where you just have a small path thru the house.

My man hidey hole is kinda the reverse of most mens hidey holes/caves I suspect.

My mother and one of my brother's is that way; drives me nuts

It's so bad, I told my mother if she was late for my wedding I would make sure everyone knew it was her fault and not mine, I was so worried about it

She made it on time; my future mother-in-law made up for it by being 45 minutes late

I also have a strong dose of SAD.
Wife knows that I she makes me late for a church thing or something I just will not go in.
Being the center of attention is a horrible thing for me.

One of my daughters can't stop cleaning sometimes. She's always neat, but if she gets stressed about other things, next thing you know she is up til 2 in the morning cleaning the house. I don't know how she finds so many things to clean, because her house is never dirty to start with.

I'm messy and constantly late, so good that we know each other online and not IRL I'd be one of the ones driving all of y'all crazy.

Actually the neatness of Crom's space in that picture makes me all kinds of nervous.

I hope no one is offended by my remark about OCD. My family is full of all kinds of issues, we talk about all of it, and over time I guess I've forgotten that it's a sensitive issue with most people. I do apologize, though. No harm was intended.

No apologies

My lateness dislike goes back to getting in trouble at school repeatedly because my mom would make us be late, that kind of thing :)

I'm somewhat messy, but strive for neatness, it's just not innate in me sadly

My daughter's OCD goes back to when she was in a coma for over a month, she woke up with weird obsessions, especially about grouping things in pairs and how furniture is positioned in rooms, no matter what kind of room it is, public or someone's house. Several other weird little tics.

It gave her very real problems in her early adulthood.

She claims she always had it, but it was manageable. Now I see it - she had weird rituals as a very little kid, like signing a book every time she read it, goofy stuff I didn't think much about or realize it was part of a problem.

However, recognizing the problem has helped her a lot, and she has become a very successful young woman, especially once she learned how to channel her compulsions to her advantage rather than fighting against them at all times :)

She vapes on a Juul (four of them so she can group in pairs, she said she only really needs three, lol)

Pretty much where I am at.
No way a neatness freak but attempt some organization.
The being prepared and not late is my thing.

And no apologies needed in my direction. I know I am batshit crazy. But in mostly good ways.
A very peaceful non aggressive type who avoids conflict and would love for everyone deserving of it to do well.
Assholes can just consume excrement and expire though :)

Also few on here know my real ID. Cromwell has been my online moniker for maybe 3 decades.
I have a couple more stashed away if I could just remember where I put them.

Or Orange County Police Department

Edit: yeah, idk

Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk

Odd, I thought counties operated sheriff's departments, municipalities operate police
