Sigelei 75W TC fires by itself. Possible danger for others

Hello,

Am-I alone or did it happen to others?

Bought a SIGELEI 75W VARIABLE BOX MOD WITH TEMPERATURE CONTROL back around last October and it started to fire on its own. Luckily, i was nearby when it started. The button looks like being in good shape and the odd thing is that is does it once in a while with no partner I can identify.

Pressing the button a few times stops it.

About a week after it started doing this, it no longer function. It shows me a message when I load a fresh battery and nothing else happens "P75 v2.1 20150831-0-8.5V" Which to me looks like its firmware version.

I live in canada and had to reach out to what appears to be SIGELEI's outsourced support http://www.pacificsmoke.com/#!warrantyinformation/cc32
I wrote to them twice and never received an answer from them

I also wrote to SIGELEI to mention the no-answer from their canadian'support.. still nothing received from them.

BTW: I work from home in front of a computer, thus the unit gets a pretty easy life with me. I own many other models of mod including another SIGELEI and this is the only MOD with which i have experienced this. My local store in Quebec city says they never heard of such a behavior.

Looking forward to hear from other in the community

Cheers,
Frank

First, welcome to VU! Have you ever had a tank leak on the mod?

Hello Mark,
Thank you for your quick reply.

I use the kanger sub tank mini and i have not experienced what I consider a leak on this unit. However, it has had some liquid on the exterior of the tank occasionally but since i am a chain vapor, i normally notice it very quickly and would wipe it before it could have a chance to get anywhere near the inside of the unit. The unit is very clean (inside out) at all time. I have been vaping for probably near 5 years now and I have had liquid all over the place with past MOD/Units that never shown this type of behavior. I could not exclude this as a cause but i would be very surprise if it was related. The firmware version shows immediately upon putting a new battery (no flickering or anything), it displays it very clearly and stays on.

Thanks,
Frank

If you haven't tried it yet, you might want to plug the USB cable into it to try to reset it. I don't own a Sig, but that's how you reset a lot of mods.

Dear Mark,

I tried plugging the usb, with and without the battery, and trying multiple button combinaisons without success. I did find another post on another forum where a guy reports the exact same issue. At least, i feel i did the right thing by alerting others about the potential danger. Note that the other thread also mentions that Seigelei and their canadian support did not respond to him. Furthermore, on the contact us page of SIGELEI, there are 2 email address and they both bounced. This was my 2nd SIGELEI device and will most certainly be my last.

@Whiskey
Thank you for moving the thread.
Just wondering by curiosity why you chose VV while the unit is not VV. It is only VW or TC.

Actually, i just noticed above that it includes VW. I was refering to the email I received which mentioned "Thread moved to VV section" I'm into details.. sorry about this lol

Sounds like the firing switch could be getting stuck. There are some YouTube videos that show how to dissemble Sig 100's (iirc). If you can get it apart, I would clean the switch and button with a Q-Tip dipped in rubbing Alcohol (wet, but not dripping). Then let it air dry for a few minutes. That suggestion applies if Sig doesn't get back to you. Seems like you wouldn't have anything to lose.

That was going to be my next suggestion. I have used alcohol and MAF sensor cleaner on one of my mods that the button stuck from time to time. The sensor cleaner is safe on plastics and leaves no residue when dry. You get it in the auto parts chemical section.

I think Wingsfan0310 and Markw4mms are correct about the fire button. The OP wrote

About a week after it started doing this, it no longer function. It shows me a message when I load a fresh battery and nothing else happens "P75 v2.1 20150831-0-8.5V" Which to me looks like its firmware version.

I have a Sigelei 75W, and if you hold the fire button while inserting battery, it displays it's firmware version and then shuts off.
