At New York Comic-Con today, Marvel announced that Sigourney Weaver will play the villain in Netflix’s upcoming superhero team-up series The Defenders.
Marvel didn’t reveal exactly who Weaver will be playing, but Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb called her “a worthy foe.”

The Defenders will mark the team-up of Netflix’s solo heroes, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the upcoming Iron Fist. Previously, we learned that Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who teamed up for season two of Daredevil, will serve as The Defenders showrunners, and that Luke Cage character Misty Knight will appear in The Defenders.
