Slightly torn 18650's

HI, I am sure this has been discussed a million times. Just not sure what the remedy is. I have been vaping 8 years. I was on another forum for 5 years where I was finally banned due to a disagreement with a moderator. I assure everyone I am realty a good guy though.

That being said, of course the Triade tore all my HG2's. Just a slight tear at the positive cap. I know there is an issue because it will often say "check battery". I am not sure super 88 tape will work up there. I know this is no joking matter. I was hoping someone had a resolution. I have read countless things about this issue but not really where mine is torn.It is like a "ring" of the wrapper came off. Not the insulator ring though. If I re-shrink wrap them i am sure they shall just tear again. As you know this things battery sled is tight. I much prefer the 3x18650 to Lipo nowadays though.

I also wondered if the Triade has some sort of reverse polarity protection they built in? The DNA200 board does not normally of course. Unlike the Reuleaux you can most certainly put the batteries in backwards. I was wondering if the only protection lies with the user not inserting them backwards? If so, quite frankly that is dangerous but it would most likely just blow the fuse on the board. I am careful but often drunk :)

Thank you guy's and I am happy to have a new home for discussion of all things vaping!

Thank you. I do have 25MM shrink wrap. It is just a pain in the butt to do 12 batteries. It of course tore them all in the same spot. This mod is known for doing this. Better safe than very sorry though. I will go re-shrink wrap them i suppose. Could use super glue or super 88 tape but of course shrink wrap is the right way. Luckily just the top of the casing came off and no damage to the batteries.

As for the reverse polarity protection I see it is the same deal as Wisemec as the DNA200 has none built in. The problem with the Triade is the implementation is not nearly as good as the Wisemec. You could easily put them in backwards. It will just blow the fuse rendering the mod dead. Have to be very careful with this one i guess. It figures it is this tight, yet the Wisemec has better reverse insertion protection.

Otherwise, this is a very nice mod i think. the leather and softer curve in back makes for a much beter feel in the hand than the Wisemec.

You could also try to press the pos/neg connections down on the battery sled a little.
I don't know if that is possible with the mod you have or not though.

Thanks. I know. This thing is so tight it can take 3-4 tries to get the batteries in! Luckily there is plenty of room in there. I spent over an hour re-wrapping 12 batteries. Also luckily there is plenty of room for contact in there. I used .5 mil Wrap and it fits and works. Of course it has not ripped again. It certainly is not the batteries fault. Nothing should be this tight. It is the only drawback I find of the otherwise nice mod. Of course the leather will wear out but they should have a DNA 400 by then!

No kidding! However to be honest as long as the battery itself is intact it does not "really" require a wrapper. Darn good idea though. Having the negative part of the battery exposed is not an impending disaster and will certainly not short them. The thing is if something else goes wrong in combination with that i would be done. If you short batteries by any means we all know that is curtains. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Trust me I know about this. I was destroyed in a car accident. If one can avoid that pain so much the better. Stupid battery tricks are well....just stupid!
