You should post up what you've built with the wires you got. These specialty wires wrap well around a mandrel or are they springy? Never built with any type of twisted wires but growing more curious as the days go by.

Although this isn't a picture of my build I did replicate this build a couple of nights ago.
It was freakishly hot and a bit scary. So I tore it down pretty quickly.
But I will be giving it another go soon. Just want to get some thicker gauge Kanthal for this build.
I know it looks simple, and it is. But this is an insane build that will kick out some very serious plumes.

Actually that was the hardest part of the build.
If the wick isn't touching as much of the coil as possible lots of burning happens.
Kinda just have to do like the picture there and really pack the wicking in there.
lol probably like a whole cotton ball of wick.
I use rayon and unlike cotton, the rayon shrinks a lil when it gets wet.
I just might try cotton next time I try this build

A couple of things to say as for my pic's: my phone (droid) SUCKS! but hey even bad coil porn is good? This past February (Super Bowl Sunday), my lady broke her ankle. We had taken some pic's of her ankle. The thursday after superbowl sunday, she came home; surgery and time to get her pain meds adjusted. We have not seen the camera since after we got her home! I will be replacing it soon. Forgive my phone LOL

One thing I can say about looking at these builds, both legit and the coil porn is, forever I was scared to try first coil so my Kayfun sat in the box, along with all of the supplies and tools I purchased. Then along came this thread and I realized that hey, no matter what I should just try it! Maybe I will make a mistake tha ends up giving me great flavor and taste!!!

While I was searching for coils made with specialty wire, just i case I would win(a girl can dream right?), this one came up and made me think of the Heat Meiser In that old Christmas cartoon, his hair at least!

This was my first build, Kayfun lite v3.1, kanthal wire 28g and Harrow Friend, Japaneese Cotton. Today I am going to try it on my new mech mod. The other day it fired on my vamo, but not the new mod, the kid at the Vape store thinks he has it fixed now!

got my first RDA today, plume veil clone, double coil at 1.0 ohm....probably need a better device to run this on, the box I have is set at 15 watts but seams like it is working to hard to get it running.

I have not used my reddi x wick yet since I am learning and do not want to waste it, but I can't help but to think when I keep hearing that the wick will out last your coil, that this braided wire would last longer too!

@Celtic Fog, when i build on my plume veil i use, when looking down on the rda, the far left positive and the far right negative. Does that make sense? It put your coil in the center and ALL the airholes will line up on neg posts and sleeve.

Thats a showpiece..

Bench tempered Gplat. Twist the wire as normal, then hammer it flat before winding.
